Video: How Does the Disc Look?
Various elements of this 2.35:1 1080p transfer appear cheesy and unconvincingly CGI, but that's an issue with the movie's FX designers, not any fault of this otherwise wonderful video presentation. The vibrant colors and vivid textures of the movie's design are replicated here with marvelous accuracy, with black levels staying sturdy throughout, and aliasing and banding kept to a bare minimum. Compression artifacting and edge enhancement are also nonexistent.
Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix on Legendary Amazons' BD debut is also top-notch, with nary a misstep to mention. Dialogue is audible (it's presented in the movie's original Mandarin), and surrounds are constantly whirring to life, providing the movie a lived-in, immersive quality that suits it well. Fidelity is dynamic, as well, and the movie's musical score has a firm and robust placement in the track here. One couldn't ask for much more.
