Video: How Does the Disc Look?
No doubt about it - this 1.78:1 1080p 3D transfer is reference-quality. Color accuracy is absolutely sensational - both unsaturated flesh tones and deep, robust reds and greens come through with beautiful clarity and definition - and black levels are inky and consistent. Detail comes across with surgical precision - every hair on Dug's back, Kevin's plumage, and the tactile textures of Carl's beloved balloons are all presented with stunning punch. There are no examples of edge enhancements to mention, nor is there an example of compression artifacting to be found. And the 3D presence of this disc is subtle but wholly effective - its spatial presentation is both dramatically organic and technically stunning: from its early moments, you're right in the middle of it. Looking for something to impress your neighbors with? This is it.

Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
This DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio mix is equally impressive. Not only do the elements of Up's sound mix appear with perfect fidelity, but Pixar's sound design hits a new high here: This track is so enveloping, so heavy on the surrounds that you'll feel like you're there on the adventure with these characters. Music exploits a marvelously widespread dynamic range, both high- and low-ends appear without any crackle or hiss, and this mix's exploitation of atmospherics and effects is nothing short of exceptional. Plug it in, turn it up and enjoy.
An English 2.0 DTS-HD Master Audio mix is included, as are French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
