Who knew there was a Leonardo Da Vinci alien conspiracy....?

Ancient Aliens - DVD

A&E / 360 Minutes / 2012 / Unrated / Street Date: November 20, 2012

During Ancient Aliens: Season Four, we're bombarded by 'evidence' that there's no possible scenario in which certain aspects of our burgeoning world couldn't be the way they are without extraterrestrial influence. It's an irresistible notion, really - it's easy to root for the show's cadre of scientists and researchers to find something tangible, something that could prove something... anything. Alas, like so many other shows of the sort, Ancient Aliens teases and cajoles with conspiracies and stories that come violently close to being perfectly believable, then does little more than offer circumstantial evidence that lacks any scientific credibility.

Yet even if these in-the-bag UFO hunters are just blowhards with sizable storytelling skills, for any armchair SETI supporter, Ancient Aliens is fascinatingly inane. There's not a lot here in terms of legitimacy or illumination, but this Season Four set nevertheless coasts by on its 'What if...?' sense of mystery. "Yes", these experts all say, "there were alien visitations". Fair and balanced? No. Fascinating? Indubitably.

Episodes included:

DISC 1: The Mayan Conspiracy / The Doomsday Prophecies / The Greys / Aliens and Mega-Disasters / The NASA Connection
DISC 2: The Mystery of Puma Punku / Aliens and Bigfoot / The Da Vinci Conspiracy / The Time Travelers / Aliens and Dinosaurs
