Video: How Does the Disc Look?

Ruby Sparks hits Blu-ray with an impressive 1.85:1 1080p transfer. Shot digitally, the film appears natural and authentic throughout, with strong detail quality and color accuracy that is bold and well-defined from start to finish. And this disc only presents a handful of instances of aliasing and banding - it's never enough to fully distract, but they pop up now and again. All in all, a fine presentation.

Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?

The DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix included here is simplistic almost to a fault - the film's sound design seems to have been ported onto this disc faithfully, but there's just not a lot to it. Dialogue is audible, sure, but atmospherics and music feel almost muted. Fidelity is dynamic, however, and while Ruby Sparks doesn't thunder to life here, there's little doubt this lossless track showcases the movie as it was originally intended.

English Descriptive Audio 5.1 and French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks are included, as are English SDH and Spanish subtitles.
