Video: How Does the Disc Look?
This 1.85:1 1080p transfer won't knock you out, but it definitely preserves the movie's original off-the-cuff documentary style appropriately. Herzog just went after the material here, bringing digital cameras where he could, and keeping that in mind, this presentation - with perhaps not the grandest detail quality or color accuracy in the world - is appropriate on all fronts. This transfer is devoid of compression artifacting, which is great, and noise isn't as big an issue as I thought it might be. Just fine.
Audio: How Does the Disc Sound?
This is a dialogue-driven doc, so the fact that this DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix doesn't have any bells and whistles on it shouldn't surprise anyone. No, things here are clean and simple: Dialogue is as clear as production would allow, and the moody guitar score comes through with crisp, punchy effect. Surround channels even burst to life fairly frequently, which is always nice.
An English LPCM 2.0 track is included, as are English SDH and Spanish subtitles.
