Video: How Do The Discs Look?

We're a few months away from seeing Criterion's first Blu-ray edition of a Godard film (Pierrot le fou arrives before the end of the summer), but as far as DVDs go, it's doubtful that a film like 2 or 3 Things I Know About Her could look much better than this. Colors are vibrant and well-maintained, finely detailed texture is razor-sharp, and black levels are fantastically thorough throughout. Made in U.S.A. also has a marvelous presentation on DVD - if not quite as eye-popping as 2 or 3 Things' - with a clean transfer (both prints utilized for these presentations are impressively unblemished) and no compression artifacts to mention, it's hard to complain. Very nice all around.

Audio: How Do The Discs Sound?

There's nothing aurally seductive about either of these French monaural sound mixes, but they get the job done. Criterion has cleaned up each track - hiss and crack have been minimized as much as possible - and dialogue/effects both come through with the kind of fidelity and clarity you'd expect.

English subtitles are included.
