BURBANK, Calif., April 18, 2001 -- Warner Home Video (WHV) will hold audiences captive on June 19 with the release of Proof of Life. Packed with suspense and star power, the box-office hit will be available for rent on VHS, and the DVD will be priced at $24.98 SRP.

This year"s Academy Award® Best Actor winner RUSSELL CROWE (Gladiator, The Insider, L.A. Confidential) and MEG RYAN(You"ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally) ignite this thrilling adventure with passion and powerful, engrossing performances. Proof of Life was directed by Taylor Hackford (The Devil"s Advocate and the romantic classic An Officer and a Gentleman).

Hailed as "One of the year"s 10 Best," by Time Magazine, Proof of Life is a modern-day "Casablanca with firepower."2 Audiences are swiftly pulled into the emotional and suspenseful story of the wife of a kidnap victim (Meg Ryan) and the hostage negotiator (Russell Crowe) working with her to navigate the brutal world of terrorism, where money is valued over life. As the two delve deeper and deeper into the harsh underworld of crime, they find their task becoming increasingly difficult as they grow more and more attracted to each other.

The Proof of Life DVD is available in Dolby Digital 5.1 audio and 16x9 widescreen format. The DVD includes a behind-the-scenes documentary, The Making of Proof of Life, hosted by actor David Caruso ("NYPD Blue") and a feature-length commentary by director Taylor Hackford as well as the original theatrical trailer, cast/filmmaker career highlights and English and French subtitles.

Proof of Life is rated R (film contains violence, language and some drug material) and has a running time of 135 minutes.
