DEBUTS ON VHS AND SPECIAL EDITION DVD -- JUNE 12, 2001!

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., (April 2, 2001) -- The #1 film of the year, CAST AWAY, the breathtaking, critically acclaimed must-see spectacular starring two time Academy Award-winner Tom Hanks makes its highly anticipated debut on rental VHS and in a "Special Edition" two-disc DVD on June 12, 2001. Directed by Robert Zemeckis and also starring Academy Award-winner Helen Hunt, it is an inspiring, one-of-a-kind story about the determination and power of the human spirit that took the box office by storm. Generating more than $230 million at the box-office to date, the film is still playing strongly in theaters more than three months after its debut.

The day and date VHS and DVD release will be supported by a Fox-aggressive, multi-million dollar, all media North American advertising campaign. The "Special Edition" DVD is priced at $29.98 U.S./ $41.98 Canada and the VHS is rental priced. Video retailer pre-order dates are: May 2 and 23 on DVD and VHS, respectively.
Cast Away opened domestically in theaters on December 22, 2000 and was the #1 film of the weekend grossing nearly $40 million in just four days. The film remained at #1 for three weeks taking in a staggering $142 million. After seven weeks in the top three, CAST AWAY had grossed more than $200 million. It is still among the 15 most popular films currently in release.

Synopsis
