COLLEGE BROADCAST RECRUITED TO INCREASE CAMPUS AWARENESS

Universal City, California, January 21, 2000 —Universal Studios Home Video’s DVD release of American Pie becomes the first title of 2000 to enter the exclusive "One Million Club," with over one million units shipped to date. The hit title, nominated for a "Best Comedy" People’s Choice Award, debuted in both rated and unrated versions on DVD on December 21, 1999, and was ranked #1 during its first two weeks of release and #3 during the third week. American Pie marks the third DVD release through Universal Studios Home Video, in addition to 1999’s The Mummy and DreamWorks’ Saving Private Ryan, to meet the magic million unit benchmark.

American Pie, also released day/date on VHS, is a major home video rental hit, topping the charts at #1 for the first two weeks of its release and has earned over $30 million in rental revenue to date.

American Pie has received extensive multi-media advertising support including pre and post-street date online banner ads, national TV spots and national radio ads that are currently running this week. In addition, Universal Studios Home Video is currently

conducting an unusual innovative online contest to maintain awareness, the "Master

Baker Bake Off," at www.americanpievideo.com. The site is already USHV’s most visited website to date.

Universal Studios Home Video and Lycos, Inc. Stroke Up a Winning Combination

In the latest online development, Universal Studios Home Video’s current cocky online contest receives additional support through a joint promotion with Lycos, Inc., a leading Web media company and owner of the Lycos Network, one of the most visited hubs on the Internet reaching nearly one out of every two U.S. Web users.

The promotion marks the second time Lycos and Universal Studios Home Video have joined forces. The two are currently collaborating on a national multi-title online and offline consumer promotion, the "Get Lucky" sweepstakes. The promotion, estimated to garner more than one billion consumer impressions in support of Universal Studios Home Video’s new releases The Red Violin, American Pie, K-911, Dudley Do-Right, Mystery Men and Bowfinger.

Lycos will promote the "Master Baker Bake Off" contest through banner ads and links throughout Lycos (www.lycos.com) as well as a "Master Baker" site featuring visual images of the recipe entries, American Pie trivia questions, and a webcast of the "Master Baker Bake Off" competition and celebration party in Los Angeles in May.

College Broadcast to Recruit Campus Interest in American Pie Contest

College Broadcast, the premiere marketing network specializing in the college market, has also signed on to promote the American Pie "Master Baker Bake Off" contest via

affiliate cable television systems, on campus programs, and an online site, www.collegebroadcast.com. The formidable combination of this triple-platform communication will target over 15 million college students in the 18-24 age demographic, American Pie’s core audience..

The contest, located at www.americanpievideo.com, invites visitors to enter their most outrageous, irreverent, raunchy yet tasty recipe ideas to qualify for a chance to be one of five finalists hoping to cream the competition at "The Master Baker Bake Off" to be held in Los Angeles in May 2000. Evaluated on the basis of recipe names, creativity,

outrageousness, theme and edibility, the five finalists will be drawn from the results of votes cast by online visitors between February 7 through March 6, 2000. All five finalists will win travel/hotel accommodations and tickets to Universal Studios Hollywood with the winner declared the "Champion Master Baker" receiving a Panasonic DVD Palm Theater and a library of Universal Studios Home Video DVD titles.

As an extra incentive to vote for their top five recipe favorites, online visitors can be entered to win a grand prize Panasaonic DVD player and DVD library of Universal Studios Home Video titles.
