W.C. Fields once said, "Never work with animals or children," but apparently Brian Levant didn't listen. After directing both in such hits as Beethoven and two Flintstones films, Levant shipped off Oscar winners Cuba Gooding and James Coburn and a pack of Alaskan Huskies to the arctic in Snow Dogs. Out now from Buena Vista Home Entertainment, it's time for Ten Goofy Questions with Brian Levant.

Ted Brooks goes from a dog hater to a dog lover. Was there ever a little bit of Brooks in Brian Levant?
No, currently I have 7 dogs (3 over 100 lbs.), 3 cats, 3 horses, 3 children and 2 lizards.

You've put multiple Oscar winners together with dogs. Any fights over the trailers or the catering truck?
It was favored nations. Whatever Cuba and James got, so did the huskies.

Any apprehension about shooting a film in the arctic?
Yes, and at one point or another my worst fears became reality... as well as my highest hopes.

Snow Dogs is based on the gritty book "Winterdance: The Fine Madness of Running the Iditarod" by Gary Paulsen. How'd it become a Disney film!?
The longer the film was developed, the farther it strayed… the film rightly needed a larger personal story.

What's the most fun about working with dogs?
One has to be extremely calm and patient working with animals. I am neither. The best part was I brought my favorite dog home when we wrapped.

If there was going to be an onscreen battle between Beethoven, Dino and Demon from Snow Dogs, who would win?
Alas, like the "Alien vs. Predator" movie, we may never find out...

Michael Bolton actually shows up for a cameo in Snow Dogs. What gives?
He'd always been part of the script. I'm especially proud of how we brought his album cover to life... so we could get him back in long hair.

Snow Dogs is finally coming to DVD, but Disney has decided to release the film in full frame only. Did that piss you off?
I wish it were possible to just press a button and see the film in the format one prefers...

You've worked with plenty of special effects and kids. Ever want to do a film with adults just talking to one another?
I'm afraid I would die of boredom. I enjoy the challenges working on a larger canvas presents.

So, when do we get Snow Dogs 2?
These decisions are made way over my head...but, all but one film of mine has had some form of sequel!
