A Message from Toshiba about the AVIA Guide to Home Theater DVD

There have been recent reports circulated concerning the incompatibilities of selected Toshiba players to fully navigate through the menu structure of the AVIA disc. After extensive testing against DVD specifications, Toshiba engineers have determined that this problem is NOT hardware related.

We have, however, identified a work-around that should enable our customers to take full advantage of this present generation of AVIA software on their Toshiba DVD-Video Player. If a consumer experiences problems with menu items not being highlighted during navigation of the AVIA disc, they should perform the following tasks:

From the SETUP menu button on the remote control, navigate to the SUBTITLE menu on-screen display. The default mode of your player is SUBTITLE OFF. From this menu, select and highlight ANY subtitle language and confirm that it has been installed as the new default setting. Press SETUP to exit the players on-screen menu display.

This simple operation will then permit full navigation through the AVIA disc's menu structure. When you are finished utilizing the AVIA disc, remember to go back into the SETUP MENU on-screen displays and restore SUBTITLES to OFF.

Toshiba extends its compliments to Ovation for assembling such an extensive resource for the audio and video enthusiast.
