A summa cum laude graduate of USC's School Of Cinema-Television, Van Ling began his career under the auspices of filmmaker James Cameron, serving as head of Production for Cameron's Lightstorm Entertainment. Ling then began an influential career as a leader in the field of digital effects, joining Banned from the Ranch Entertainment as Creative Director from 1994-1999, and helping propel the company to one of the top effects houses in the industry.

Ling would first come to the attention of most home theater enthusiasts in the early 90's with his breakthrough, award-winning production work on such special edition laserdisc sets as Terminator 2 and The Abyss for Cameron. From his cutting-edge menus and in-depth documentaries, to his keen eye for the latest technological advancements, Ling now continues that tradition on DVD.

In addition to reimagining his previous work such as T2 and The Abyss for DVD, Ling has crafted some of the format's most popular special editions, including Independence Day and the upcoming Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. Now, on October 2nd, Ling goes back to the beginning, with the long-awaited special edition of Cameron's classic The Terminator. We got the opportunity to chat with Ling about his work on the influential sci-fi opus, his continued collaboration with Cameron, and his upcoming projects.
