Girls. Gadgets. Kick-ass kung fu. Must be a
McG thang.
It ain't everyday a debut director's first film
kicks up over $125 million at the domestic box office alone. At the ripe
old age of 29, McG (aka Joseph McGinty Nichol) has already directed scores
of music videos for such 'obscure little bands' as The Offspring, Korn,
Barenaked Ladies and his childhood chums Sugar Ray. With an aggressive,
of-the-moment visual style, Mr. G has found himself one of the most in-demand
video directors around, so it was only a matter of time before he landed
the plum task of taking the Angels into the 21st century...
Though Charlie's Angels 2000 saw its script doctored by no less than
12 screenwriters and the set was (reportedly) not always a happy one,
the result is one hell of an entertaining movie. We at DVDFILE love Charlie's
Angels...how can you go wrong with explosions, slo-mo hair flipping, hi-tech
Matrix chop socky and Drew, Cameron and Lucy all doing back flips and
kickin' Crispin Glover's ass? Answer: You can't!
Arriving March 27 on DVD from Columbia TriStar, Charlie's Angels looks
great, sounds great and has tons of goodies. We got the chance to talk
with McG and the guy is a huge DVD fan and one cool dude. He was funny,
unpretentious and totally into the format. He's only made one movie, but
is already getting started on his second and we hope to see an Angels
sequel (or there'll be hell to pay!)
Guess it's just a McG kinda thang...
