Even if you don't know the name Jeffrey Schwarz, chances are that you
own some (or a lot) of his work. Begining his career as an editor of
low-budget feature films, he quckly progressed to producing his own
documentaries, commentaries and other supplemental features for DVD.
Founding Automat Pictures, Schwarz has quickly become one of Hollywood's
most sought after producers of special edition content.
His work can be seen on such acclaimed releases as Columbia's Heavy
Metal, Jumanji, Cliffhanger and Paul Verhoeven's Hollow Man, the recent
teen horror hit Final Destination from New Line, and Rob Reiner's When
Harry Met Sally and This is Spinal Tap, both for MGM. Recently, he finished
work on the DVD for the big screen version of Charlie's Angels, as well
as Little Nicky, Krull and Dungeons & Dragons, As for what's ahead,
Schwarz and Automat Pictures are looking forward to further collaborations
with directors like Rob Reiner and Paul Verhoeven.
We recently had the privilege of speaking with Jeffrey about his work,
the DVD format and the unique challenge of documenting some of our favorite
film memories...
