Bridget, Undertow, Orgazmo
Plump pleasure | Renee Zellweger made a delightful splash with her Bridget Jones's Diary in 2001, garnering an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress in a Leading Role. The popular film earned about $150 million worldwide. It took three years for the next chapter in Bridget's love life to be brought to the screen, and filmgoers weren't quite as generous. Nonetheless, with the return of all the principal actors - Zellweger, Colin Firth as Mark Darcy, and Hugh Grant as the charmingly ruttish Daniel Cleaver - the film should be good for a few giggles. On March 22nd, Universal will release Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason on an anamorphic DVD (careful, there will also be a full screen version) supported by a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Announced without details, the supplements will include a commentary with Director Beeban Kidron, deleted scenes with introductions, Mark & Bridget: Forever?, Bridget Jones Interviews Colin Firth, Lonely London, The Big Fight, "Who's Your Man?" Quiz, and cast & filmmakers. Expect an SRP of $29.99. | Critically Acclaimed | MGM Home Entertainment has announced that on April 26th, writer-director David Gordon Green's drama Undertow will be released. Starring Jamie Bell, Josh Lucas, and Dermot Mulroney, it's a thriller about two generations of brothers embroiled in a violent past they cannot escape. Expect an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. Supplements should include a commentary with the director and principal players, a featurette, deleted scenes, a photo gallery, and trailers. The SRP will be $26.98. | And now for something completely different | Trey Parker and Matt Stone's South Park fame may have begat Team America: World Police, but seven years before, they were pushing the boundaries with Orgazmo. Some will call it a clever satire of the porn industry; others will simply call it sophomoric. Joe Young (Trey Parker), a devout Mormon, is made an offer he can't refuse: $20,000 to play Captain Orgazmo in a porn flick. His weapon of choice is the Orgazmorator, a device that renders his foes powerless with multiple orgasms. Universal will release an even more outrageous version, Orgazmo Unrated Special Edition, on March 29th; three minutes of tasteful footage are restored. Anamorphic video and Dolby Surround 2.0 will be supplemented by: Drunken Audio Commentary with Matt Stone and Trey Parker, Dian Bachar, Stan Sawicki, Andy Kemler and Jason McHugh; Cast Audio Commentary with Maki San, David Dunn, Robyn Rabb, Jason McHugh and Matt Potter; Wild Audio Commentary with South Park Writing Staff (Pam Brady, Matt Pregger and Kyle McCulloch), Weird Al Yankovic, Dave Foley, Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, Kevin Smith, and David Zucker; Deleted Scenes; The Book of Orgazmo; Dragon Con Interview; Trailers; Outtakes; Behind the Scenes; EPK Interviews; and, a Stills Gallery. South Park fans will be pleased. |
