The spring begins to warm
 BBC/Warner has announced that they’ll release Bleak House on Blu-ray Disc on 10 May. This acclaimed miniseries adaptation of the Charles Dickens novel starring Gillian Anderson and Denis Lawson will arrive with 1.78:1 1080p transfers, stereo tracks, a commentary track (participants TBD), some interviews, and a stills gallery. SRP for the 3-disc set is $79.98. Sony will release Seven Pounds on Blu-ray Disc on 17 March. This recent Will Smith drama costars Rosario Dawson and will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, three featurettes, and some deleted scenes. SRP is $39.95. 3 March will bring the DVD release of The Hills: The Complete Fourth Season from Paramount. This latest installment of the hit Lauren Conrad reality series will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, stereo tracks, deleted scenes, a set of interviews, a handful of commentary tracks (participants TBD), a Virtual Hills feature, and some previews for other Paramount titles. Specs and cover art have been made available for Dreamworks’ Blu-ray Disc release of Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa. This hugely successful animated sequel will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, eight HD featurettes, six HD music videos, a set-top game, a commentary track (participants TBD), and two BD-exclusive goodies: a second commentary (entitled The Animator’s Corner) and a trivia track. SRP is $39.98. Jesus: The Missing History will be available on DVD from Image Entertainment on 24 March. This documentary from Bible scholar Kent Dobson investigating the missing pieces of Jesus’ life will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. SRP is $19.98. 10 March will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of Batman: The Motion Picture Anthology from Warner. This set contains four Batman films – Batman, Batman Begins, Batman Returns, and Batman & Robin – and will arrive with 1080p transfers, Dolby TrueHD 5.1 tracks, a set of commentaries by directors Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher, a handful of making-of featurettes, some documentaries, character profiles, and what is promised on the Warner press release as no fewer than eighteen hours of extras (even including commentaries, that’s not too shabby). SRP is $129.95. Paramount will release Girlfriends: The Sixth Season on 24 February. This newest season of the acclaimed series features cameo appearances from Kelly Rowland and Barry Zito, and will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. No supplements will be included. SRP is $36.98. We have early word that Warner will release both An American in Paris and Gigi on Blu-ray Disc on 31 March. We have no specific information on either release other than the expected 1080p transfers, but we’ll keep you updated. Each disc will come with an SRP of $28.99. We have information about Lionsgate’s 24 February release of My Wife and Kids: Season One. This popular Damon Wayans sitcom will see its first season arrive on DVD with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. We’ve heard nothing yet in terms of supplements, but we’ll let you know if anything gets announced. SRP is $29.98. Facets Multimedia will release The Pear Tree on 24 February 2009. This award-winning drama from acclaimed Iranian filmmaker Dariush Mehrjui will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer and a stereo track, a stills gallery, and a director’s bio. SRP is $29.95. We have early word that 3 March will bring the DVD release of Nash Bridges: The Second Season from Paramount. This sophomore season of the hit Don Johnson and Cheech Marin series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, a handful of commentaries by Johnson, Marin, and creator Carlton Cuse, and a featurette. SRP is $49.99.The miniseries The Story of David is headed to DVD from Sony on 3 March. This star-studded affair featuring performances from Timothy Bottoms, Anthony Quayle, and Jane Seymour will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a stereo track, and a handful of previews for other Sony titles. This acclaimed vampire series’ debut DVD collection will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a slate of supplements that has yet to be announced. SRP is $59.99. We have final specs for Universal’s 17 February Blu-ray Disc release of Changeling. This Golden Globe-nominated drama starring Angelina Jolie will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 track, three U-Control features, two featurettes, and a BD-Live Scenes Sharing option. SRP is $27.95. Final specs have been released for BBC/Warner’s 14 April Blu-ray Disc edition of Cranford. This Golden Globe-nominated miniseries starring Judi Dench will arrive with 1.78:1 1080p transfers and stereo tracks. No supplements have been announced, but that may change. SRP is $39.98. The 2001 Japanese Drama Man Walking on Snow is headed to DVD from Facets Multimedia on 24 February. Starring Ken Ogata (Mishima), the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No supplements will be included. SRP is $29.95. Paramount has announced a 10 February DVD release of Melrose Place: The Fifth Season, Volume One. This latest installment of the hit Aaron Spelling drama has fallen victim to the Paramount season-slash, but no release date has yet been announced for the second volume of fifth season. This first volume release will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No supplements will be included. SRP is $39.98. Nickelodeon and Paramount will release The Mighty B!: We Got the B on 24 February. This animated series co-created by SNL comic Amy Poehler will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, an animatic sequence, and a karaoke music video. SRP is $16.99. HBO has announced a 24 March DVD release of In Treatment. This first season of the Golden Globe-nominated show starring Gabriel Byrne and Blair Underwood will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a slate of supplements that has yet to be announced. SRP is $59.99. Image Entertainment will release Locusts: The 8th Plague on 24 March. This disaster picture starring Dan Cortese and David Keith will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No supplements will be included. SRP is $14.98. 3 March will bring the release of Wildfire: Season Three from Lionsgate. This popular ABC Family series starring Genevieve Cortese and Nana Visitor will see its third season arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. No supplements have been announced as of yet. SRP is $29.98. Facets Multimedia has announced a 24 February 2-Pack release entitled Twisted/Tormented/Tragic: Two Movies From Canada. This edition will house two French-language Canadian gems – Congorama and A Wind From Wyoming – which be presented in 1.78:1 anamorphic video and 1.33:1 full screen transfers, respectively, and will be presented in stereo. No supplements will be included. SRP is $39.95. 24 March will bring the release of The Riches: Season Two from Fox. This second and final season of the Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver series will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, an Eddie Izzard: Revealed featurette. SRP is $29.98.Another miniseries is coming to DVD from Sony on 3 March: The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Starring Anthony Hopkins, Derek Jacobi, and John Gielgud, this 1982 presentation of the Victor Hugo novel will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer and a stereo track. No supplements will be included.  Acclaimed Polish actor Ryszard Filipski’s directorial effort Coup D’etat is headed to DVD from Facets Multimedia on 24 February. This epic historical drama will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a stereo track, and some director and cast biographies. SRP is $29.95.It’s very early, and things may not be set in motion until late in 2009, but Shout! Factory has announced that they will be releasing Mr. Belvedere: Season One at some point this year. This sitcom – one of the most-requested TV-on-DVD titles out there – will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks.  Snakehead Terror will be released by Image Entertainment on 24 March. This water-terror film starring Bruce Boxleitner and a nasty-looking mutated Snakehead fish will arrive on DVD with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No supplements will be included. SRP is $14.98. Fox has announced a 31 March release of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Season Four, Volume One. This first installment of episodes from the hit adventure series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, mono tracks, a set of interviews, and a stills gallery. SRP is $39.98. Image Entertainment will release Craig Ferguson: Wee Bit O’ Revolution on 24 March. This live performance showcasing the talents of the late night comedian will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No supplements will be included. SRP is $14.98. 17 February will bring the DVD release of The Beverly Hillbillies: The Official Third Season. This newest release of the beloved rags-to-riches Ozark-tinged comedy will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, mono tracks, a featurette, original sponsor introductions and conclusions to each episode, and a stills gallery. SRP is $49.98. French auteur Julien Duvivier’s Poil de Carotte is coming to DVD from Facets Multimedia on 24 February. This silent drama from the acclaimed director (Pepe Le Moko) will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, an introduction from Serge Bromberg, and three featurettes. SRP is $39.95. 17 February will bring the DVD release of Sabrina the Teenage Witch: The Fifth Season from Paramount. This Melissa Joan Hart series will see season number five arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No supplements will be included. SRP is $39.98. 31 March will bring the Image Entertainment release of The Hercules Collection. This 4-DVD collection of adventures featuring the Greek God (all installments were originally released between 1958 and 1965) will arrive with both 1.33:1 full screen and 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers (each of the eight films has a different aspect ratio), and mono tracks. No supplements will be included. SRP is $19.98. We have early word of a 10 March Blu-ray Disc release of Transporter 3 from Lionsgate. This latest installment of the hit Jason Statham action franchise will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD 5.1 or 7.1 track, but full audio specs and the release’s supplements have yet to be announced. SRP is $39.99. 10 February will bring the release of Friday the 13th: The Series: The Second Season from Paramount. This cult-adored spinoff of the hit movie franchise will see its sophomore season arrive on DVD with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks; no supplements will be included. SRP is $49.98.
