Criterion's January announcements: its worst monthly lineup in years....?
8 January will bring the Blu-ray release of Two-Lane Blacktop from Criterion. This cult-favorite Monte Hellman picture will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, two commentaries, a set of featurettes, some publicity material, outtakes, and the movie's trailer. SRP is $39.95.
We'll get a Criterion Blu-ray edition of The Tin Drum on 15 January. This acclaimed German picture will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a set of interviews, some audio material, and the movie's trailer. SRP is $39.95.
Criterion will also release The Man Who Knew Too Much on Blu-ray on 15 January. The Hitchcock favorite will arrive with a 1080p transfer, an LPCM sound mix, a commentary track, some interviews, excerpts from Francois Truffaut's interviews with Hitch, and a restoration demonstration. SRP is $39.95.
Wim Wenders' Pina will be Criterion's first 3D Blu-ray release, and is headed to shelves on 22 January. The doc will arrive with a 3D 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a commentary track, a 3D featurette and some 3D deleted scenes (with optional commentary, some additional featurettes, and the movie's trailer. SRP is $49.95.
Criterion will also release Ivan's Childhood on Blu-ray on 22 January. This Tarkovsky favorite will arrive with a 1080p transfer, an LPCM sound mix, and some featurettes. SRP is $39.95.
