Unless you're a die-hard fan of Being John Malkovich or Putney Swope, Criterion's May announcements are pretty disappointing....

Criterion will bring Summer With Monika to Blu-ray on 29 May. This romantic Ingmar Bergman romp will arrive with a 1080p transfer, an LPCM sound mix, a Bergman introduction to the film, a set of interviews, a documentary, and the film's trailer. SRP is $39.95.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Also coming on 29 May is Summer Interlude. This Criterion Blu-ray of another of Bermgan's early films will come with a 1080p transfer and an LPCM sound mix. SRP is $29.95.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On 22 May, we'll get a DVD release of Eclipse Series 33: Up All Night With Robert Downey, Sr. from Criterion. This set of cult classics - Babo 73, Chafed Elbows, No More Excuses, Putney Swope and Two Tons of Turquoise to Taos Tonight - will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono sound mixes. 22 May will also bring the Blu-ray release of Certified Copy from Criterion. This Juliette Binoche drama will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, an interview with director Abbas Kiarostami, a documentary, and the film's trailer. Being John Malkovich will get the Criterion Blu-ray treatment on 15 May. This Spike Jonze wacko comedy will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a select-scene commentary from Michel Gondry, a documentary, some featurettes, the two films-within-the-film from the movie, and a set of trailers and TV spots. 8 May will bring the Blu-ray upgrade of La haine from Criterion. This ascerbic French thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a commentary track, an intro to the movie from Jodie Foster, a documentary, some featurettes, deleted scenes, a stills gallery and some trailers. SRP is $39.95.
