Christmas comes early this year: Fox has announced a 6 October Blu-ray Disc release of Miracle on 34th Street. This holiday classic will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD sound mix, though full audio specs and bonuses haven't yet been confirmed. SRP is $34.99.
We have a new release date for Bruce Campbell fans: Army of Darkness: Screwhead Edition has returned to the slate, with Universal prepping a 15 September release date. This cult classic will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a featurette, an alternate ending and the film's trailer. SRP is $26.98.
Universal will also release An American Werewolf in London on 15 September. This John Landis horror/thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a feature-length documentary on the making of the film, a commentary with actors David Naughton and Griffin Dunne, some stills galleries, a blooper reel and a few featurettes. SRP is $26.98.
Star Trek: The Original Series: Season 2 is headed to Blu-ray Disc from Paramount on 22 September. This latest installment of the geek-heavy series will arrive with 1.33:1 1080p transfers, DTS-HD 7.1 Master Audio sound mixes, and a slate of bonuses that has yet to be formally announced. SRP is $116.99.
Fox has announced a Blu-ray Disc box set release of Fox Searchlight: Volume One for 13 October. This set - which includes Juno, Slumdog Millionaire and The Wrestler - will house all the initial BD editions of all three movies and come with a price tag of $69.99.
