Lots of good Criterion updates today... First up is their announcement for a Blu-ray Disc edition of For All Mankind, slated to hit shelves on 14 July. This extraordinary documentary will arrive with a 1.33:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix, a commentary featuring director Al Reinert and astronaut Eugene A. Cernan, four featurettes and an optional on-screen identification of astronauts and mission control specialists. SRP is $39.95.
Made in U.S.A. is headed to DVD from Criterion on 21 July. This Jean-Luc Godard film will arrive with a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a French mono sound mix, a set of interviews, two featurettes and some trailers. SRP is $29.95.
Also announced from Criterion is a 14 July DVD release of The Human Condition. This epic, one-of-a-kind drama from director Masaki Kobayashi will arrive with a 2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Japanese mono sound mix, two featurettes, an interview and some trailers. The 574-minute film will carry an SRP of $79.95.
Criterion's real coup in terms of July announcements, though, will be their Blu-ray Disc release of Repulsion on 28 July. This iconic thriller from Roman Polanski will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a PCM mono sound mix, a commentary with Polanski and actress Catherine Deneuve (!!), two documentaries and the film's trailer. SRP is $39.95.
And ending the week on a non-Criterion note, Fox has announced that they'll release Home on Blu-ray Disc on 5 June. This documentary narrated by Glenn Close will arrive wil a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio sound mix. No bonuses will be includedc. SRP is $39.99.
