30 September will bring the Blu-ray release of My Best Friend’s Wedding from Sony. This amazingly popular Julia Roberts comedy will arrive on high-def with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, as well as three featurettes, a “Say a Little Prayer” karaoke track and a stills gallery. SRP is $28.95.
















It’s a bit early, but we nevertheless have received word that Fox is preparing a Blu-ray release of Behind Enemy Lines III for January 2009. We don’t have any tech specs or news of bonus features for this second direct-to-video sequel to the hit Owen Wilson war actioner, but we’ll let you know when more info comes our way.



Final specs have been announced for Sony’s Blu-ray of Rudy, slated for a 9 September release. The Sean Astin football drama will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and three featurettes. SRP is $28.95.

















We have more details on Paramount’s 30 September Blu-ray release of Iron Man. There are bound to be even more features included on this release than we know now, but we have it on good authority that at the very least, the edition will contain four featurettes, an I Am Iron Man documentary, Robert Downey Jr.’s screen test, some deleted and extended scenes, and a stills gallery. No word on tech specs yet, but we hope to have them next week. SRP is $39.98.














The animated film Dead Space: Downfall is headed to Blu-ray from Anchor Bay on 28 October. This prequel to the video game of the same name will arrive with a 1080p transfer and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 track, as well as a deleted scene and a BD-exclusive set of cheat codes for the tie-in video game. SRP is $34.95.















Lionsgate will release a director’s cut of House of the Dead on 9 September. This critically-maligned yet cult-adored horror flick from Uwe Boll will arrive on this new edition with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a new commentary by Boll and a pair of featurettes. SRP is $19.98.
















30 September will bring the Blu-ray debut of Mona Lisa Smile from Sony. This Julia Roberts girls-school drama will arrive on high-def with a 10080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. No bonuses have been announced. SRP is $28.95.
















Universal will release The Strangers on Blu-ray on 21 September. This hit horror flick starring Liv Tyler will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 track, as well as a featurette, a set of deleted scenes and a BD-exclusive My Scenes Sharing feature that allows viewers to pick and share their BFF moments from the film online. SRP is $39.95.















11 November will bring the Warner release of the grand Hollywood epic Quo Vadis. This Robert Talyor/Deborah Kerr spectacle will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, but final specs and bonus features have yet to be confirmed (although we know there will be a both a new commentary track and a documentary). A Blu-ray edition of the film will be released in Spring 2009. SRP is $20.97.














Lionsgate will release a fifteenth-anniversary edition of Chaplin on 14 October. This Oscar-nominated film starring Robert Downey, Jr. as the silent comedy icon will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, three featurettes and the film’s theatrical trailer. SRP is $19.95
















Warner has set an 11 November release date for their Blu-ray edition of JFK. This exceptional Oliver Stone film starring Kevin Costner will arrive with a commentary track by Stone, a Beyond JFK: The Question of Conspiracy documentary, two featurettes, some deleted scenes, and the film’s trailer. No tech specs have been announced yet. SRP is $28.95.















Sony will release The Ray Harryhausen Collection on Blu-ray on 7 October. This collection of three Harryhausen classics – It Came from Beneath the Sea, Earth vs. the Flying Saucers, and 20 Million Miles to Earth – will contain 1080p transfers of all pictures, but full specs and bonus slates are TBD. Each of the three films will be available separately, as well. SRP is TBD.



Sony will release Zombie Strippers on Blu-ray on 28 October (and not a moment too soon). This Jenna Jameson/Robert Englund cult classic will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, as well as a commentary by director Jay Lee, Jameson, Englund, and Joey Medina, a set of deleted scenes (with optional commentary), two featurettes, some additional gory excised scenes, and a BD-exclusive Titillation and Sass pop-up fact track. SRP is $38.96.














City Lights Entertainment has announced that their Amazon.com-exclusive Blu-ray release of Kiss of the Spider Woman has been postponed. Originally set for a 22 July release, the high-def debut of the William Hurt and Raul Julia drama has been switched to 12 August. No reason was given for the postponement. SRP remains $39.98.















Lionsgate will release a new edition of Capricorn One on 14 October. This space adventure starring Elliott Gould and Karen Black will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, but audio specs and extras are both TBD. SRP is $19.95.
















7 October will bring the Fox Blu-ray release of Young Frankenstein. This comedy classic from Mel Brooks will arrive with a 1080p transfer and extras that have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $39.98.

















Final specs have been made available for Paramount’s 23 September release of CSI NY: The Complete Fourth Season. This new TV-on-DVD installment of the hit spinoff starring Gary Sinise will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, four featurettes, and a commentary track on Down the Rabbit Hole. SRP is $79.99.















The thriller Constantine is headed to Blu-ray from Warner on 14 October. This Keanu Reeves/Tilda Swinton thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, as well as all the bonuses that were on the film’s HD DVD release: two commentaries (one by director Francis Lawrence and producer Akiva Goldsman and the other by screenwriters Kevin Brodbin and Frank A. Cappello); twelve featurettes; some deleted scenes; a music video; and a collection of trailers. SRP is $28.95.













More details have surfaced concerning New Line’s 23 September Blu-ray release of Run Fatboy Run. This Simon Pegg comedy will arrive with a commentary track with the actor and director David Schwimmer, some deleted scenes, and a gag reel (tech specs are TBD). SRP is $35.98.
















Sony will release Tortured on 16 September. This thriller starring Laurence Fishburne, Cole Hauser, and James Cromwell will arrive on DVD with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a making-of featurette. SRP is $24.96.
















We have final specs for Paramount’s 9 September release of CSI Miami: The Complete Sixth Season. This latest edition of the hit David Caruso series will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, four featurettes, and two commentary tracks (on Permanent Vacation and Raising Cane). SRP is $79.98.















Warner has announced a Blu-ray release of The Ultimate Matrix Trilogy on 14 October. This release – content identical to the studio’s HD DVD box set – will arrive with 1080p transfers and Dolby TrueHD 5.1 tracks. As far as we know, all the bonus features will be identical to those on the HD DVD box set, but The Animatrix has been upgraded to 1080p. SRP is $129.95.















Sony will release Can’t Hardly Wait on Blu-ray on 30 September. This hilarious teen-party film starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Ethan Embry will arrive with a 1080p transfer, two commentaries by various cast and crew (one recorded at the time of the film’s inaugural DVD release; another recorded recently), three featurettes, and some deleted scenes (audio specs are TBD). SRP is $28.95.














The Billy Zane/Kelly Brook adventure Fish Tales is headed to DVD from Universal on 26 August. The film will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $24.98.



30 September will bring the Blu-ray release of Maid in Manhattan from Sony. This surprisingly romantic tale starring Ralph Fiennes and Jennifer Lopez will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and a gag reel. SRP is $28.95.
















First Look Entertainment is releasing Transsiberian on Blu-ray on 4 November. This indie thriller starring Woody Harrelson and Emily Mortimer will get a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and extras are TBD. SRP is $34.95.

















We have early word that Fox is preparing a massive Planet of the Apes Blu-ray release sometime this November. We know that all five movies in the series will get 1080p transfers, and there will be 1080p bonus features, but we don’t know any more than that, yet.



Lionsgate will release the horror film Copycat on 23 September. Starring Chloe Snyder, the serial-killer actioner will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $26.98.
















George Carlin’s It’s Bad For Ya is coming to Blu-ray from HBO on 25 November. We don’t have anything in terms of bonus features or tech specs for this final stand-up film from the brilliant comedian, but we’ll let you know when more info comes our way. SRP is $29.95.



Warner will release I-See-You.Com on 16 September. This romantic comedy starring Beau Bridges and Rosanna Arquette will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It looks like there will be no bonus features; if that changes, we’ll let you know. SRP is $19.97.
















   

 

   


We have box art for the first round of James Bond Blu-ray release from MGM, slated for a 21 October release. These titles will be available both individually and as two sets: James Bond Blu-ray Collection Three-Packs: Volume 1 (From Russia With Love, Thunderball, For Your Eyes Only) and Volume 2 (Dr. No, Live and Let Die, Die Another Day). No tech specs or supplemental material have been confirmed, but final info should be coming soon. SRP for the 3-packs is $89.95; individual titles carry an SRP of $34.95.



An official press release has yet to arrive, but it was announced at Comic Con last week that Sony is preparing Blu-ray releases of Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II for a tentative release date of 21 October.

















Lionsgate will release Son of Sam on 2 September. This horror flick starring Nola Roper will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a stereo track, a commentary by director Ulli Lommel, and a stills gallery. SRP is $26.98.
















Universal will release Knight Rider: The Complete Series on 21 October. This 24-DVD set will contain all episodes of the David Hasselhoff show presented with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks. Extras include commentary on Knight of the Phoenix’s by Hasselhoff and creator Glen Larson, a set of featurettes, and a stills gallery. SRP is $139.98.



MGM will release a 20th anniversary edition of Pumpkinhead on 9 September. This creepy-crawly cult favorite will arrive on this new DVD edition with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a commentary by screenwriter Gary Gerani and STX guys Tom Woodruff, Jr. and Alec Gillis (the track is moderated by filmmaker Scott Spiegel), eight featurettes, and a stills gallery.
