
We have more specs for Warner’s 9 December Blu-ray Disc release of the monster hit
The Dark Knight. The second highest grossing film to date will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and the film’s limited edition Blu-ray Disc release will include three featurettes, six episodes of Gotham’s news program,
Gotham Tonight, and a stills gallery. SRP is $35.99.

Paramount will release the sports drama
Coach Carter on Blu-ray Disc on 16 December. This Samuel L. Jackson film will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, although we have no word on bonuses quite yet. SRP is $29.98.

The Oscar-winning
Girls Gone Wild: Blonde on Blonde is headed to Blu-ray Disc from Mantra Entertainment on 2 December. This collection of wild women will arrive with a 1.33:1 1080p transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, though it doesn’t appear that any bonus features will be included. SRP is $24.95.

Warner and New Line have announced a 20 January Blu-ray Disc release of
Domino. This rough-and-tumble Keira Knightley actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a commentary track by director Tony Scott, an alternate audio track with Scott, Zach Schiff-Abrams, Richard Kelly and Tom Waits, two featurettes, and a set of deleted scenes (audio specs are TBD). SRP is $28.99.

Warner will release
The Clique on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This teen melodrama – call it a straight-to-video
Mean Girls – will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track (bonus features have yet to be announced). SRP is $34.95.

Universal has announced a 2 December Blu-ray Disc release of the Angelina Jolie and James McAvoy actioner
Wanted. Directed by Timur Bekmambetov, the film will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track, four
U-Control features, four BD-Live exclusives, some deleted scenes, seven featurettes, and some
Wanted motion comics. SRP is $39.98.

Get Smart. This Steve Carrell and Anne Hathaway comedy will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a BD-exclusive DVD game, a
Comedy Optimization Mode BD-exclusive feature (with access to alternate takes and jokes), five featurettes, and a gag reel. SRP is $35.99

Lionsgate has announced a 2 December DVD release for
Rise of the Foot Soldier. This gangster picture starring Ricci Harnett and Terry Stone will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary by director Julian Gilbey and screenwriter William Gilbey, two featurettes, some deleted scenes, and a blooper reel. SRP is $26.98.

FUNimation has announced plans to release
Vexille on Blu-ray Disc on 4 November. This wildly popular film from director Fumihiko Sorin will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and the release’s bonus slate are still unconfirmed. SRP is $34.95.

More specs have been made available for the Lionsgate Blu-ray Disc release of
Monster’s Ball, slated to hit stores on 4 November. This Oscar-winning drama will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master 5.1 lossless audio track, a commentary by director Mark Forster and writers Milo Maddica and Will Rokos, three featurettes, some interviews, a set of deleted scenes, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $34.99.

A&E will release
Paul McCartney: The Space Within Us on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This concert featuring the former Beatle will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and the disc’s bonus slate are still TBD. SRP is $34.95.

Fox will release
Jingle All the Way on Blu-ray Disc on 2 December. This Arnold Schwarzenegger holiday comedy will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track, but no bonus features have yet been announced. SRP is $34.99.

Paramount has announced a 25 November DVD release of
Gomer Pyle USMC: The Fifth and Final Season. This sitcom’s last hurrah will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks; no bonus material will be included. SRP is $39.98.

2 December will bring the Fox Blu-ray Disc release of
Home Alone. This popular comedy starring Macauley Culkin will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track, but we have no confirmed word on bonus features quite yet. SRP is $34.99.

ABBA fans rejoice – we have received more information about Universal’s 16 December Blu-ray Disc release of
Mamma Mia!. This hit musical will arrive with a 1080p transfer, an interactive BD-exclusive commentary option (where you can record your own track and share with your fellow
MM fans), some BD Live bonuses, a music video, and two featurettes. Audio specs are still TBD.

Warner has announced a 21 October release for its
Gangster Collection Volume 4. This collection of five crime-filled tales -
The Amazing Dr. Clitterhouse, The Little Giant, Larceny, Inc., Invisible Stripes,
and
Kid Galahad – will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, mono tracks, and a sea of bonuses; each disc will come with a commentary, a trailer, and
Warner Night at the Movies goodies. SRP is $59.92.

20 January will bring the Fox Blu-ray Disc release of the comedy classic
This Is Spinal Tap. This legendary film from Rob Reiner will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track; no bonuses have yet been confirmed. SRP is $34.99.

Bandai Visual Entertainment has given early word that it plans to release
Akira on Blu-ray Disc on 24 February. This classic anime epic will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, four trailers, a storyboard gallery, and a TV spot. SRP is TBD.
The straight-to-DVD family film
Beethoven’s Big Break will be available on 30 December from Universal. This latest addition to the big-dog movie franchise stars Jonathan Silverman and will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary by director Mike Ellioot, Silverman, and co-star Moises Arias, three featurettes, a blooper reel, and some deleted scenes. SRP is $29.98.

Warner will release
Powerpuff Girls: The Complete Series on 20 January. This collection of every episode from the animated show’s seven DVD releases will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, what’s being touted as more than thirty hours of bonus material (exactly what comprises these hours has yet to be confirmed). SRP is $59.97.

Warner will release
Moonlight: The Complete Series on 20 January. This Alex O’Loughlin and Shannyn Sossamon cult favorite will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $39.98.

Genius Products and The Weinstein Company will release
The Longshots on Blu-ray Disc on 2 December. This Ice Cube kids-sports comedy will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track (bonus features have yet to be determined). SRP is $37.49.
The Sarah Silverman Program: Season Two, Volume One is headed to DVD from Paramount on 14 October. This new release of the celebrated comedienne’s hilarious Comedy Central show will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, stereo tracks, and a set of featurettes. SRP is $26.99.

30 December will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of
Days of Thunder from Paramount. This Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track (bonus specs are still TBD). SRP is $29.99.

The Robin Tunney drama
Open Window is coming to DVD from Image Entertainment on 9 December. Also starring Cybill Shepherd, the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary featuring the film’s producers, editor, cinematographer, and director, a making-of featurette, a Cybill Shepherd PSA, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $27.98.

We have early word that MGM is planning a January 2009 Blu-ray Disc release of
Stargate: The Ark of Truth. Nothing has been officially confirmed, but if this BD release is similar to that of
Stargate: Continuum, the straight-to-video film will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master 5.1 track, and a big slate of bonuses. SRP is $39.99.

Shout! Factory will release
Hall & Oates: Live at the Troubadour on Blu-ray Disc on 25 November. This concert film will arrive with a 1080p transfer; audio specs and the edition’s bonus slate have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $24.95.

We have word of a Canadian Blu-ray Disc release of
The Tudors: The Complete First Season on 11 November from Peach Arch Entertainment. This debut season of the scandalous Showtime series will arrive with 1.78:1 1080p transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, some interviews, deleted scenes, trailers, and a gag reel. There is no word yet as to whether Paramount will be staging a simultaneous domestic release. SRP is CA $84.99.

Final specs have been announced for Genius Products and The Weinstein Company’s 4 November DVD release of
Project Runway: The Complete Fourth Season. This latest round of episodes from the successful TV series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $27.95.

The Sundance hit
The Good Life is coming to DVD from Image Entertainment on 4 November. Starring Mark Webber and Zooey Deschanel, the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $27.98.

Warner and HBO will release
Little Britain USA on 13 January. We don’t yet have any tech specs or bonus features to report for this hit Lucas/Williams UK series. SRP is $29.99.

Warner and BBC Video have announced a 10 February release of
One Foot in the Grave: Season 5. This hit British series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $34.98.

Shout! Factory has released early word that they’re preparing a 10 February, 2009 release of
Simon & Simon: Season Two. It’s been a good two years since the show’s debut season came to DVD, so fans of the series should be relieved. There is no word as to bonuses, but the set will contain 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. SRP is $39.98.

Shout! Factory has also announced release plans for
Blossom: The Complete First Season for a 27 January debut. This Mayim Bialik series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, stereo tracks, and a full bonus slate (the specifics of which are still TBD). SRP is also TBD.

Also in a move pre-empting any domestic high-def release, Peach Arch Entertainment has announced an 11 November Blu-ray Disc release of
The Tudors: The Complete Second Season. Perfectly compatible on all BD-players purchased in the United States, this sophomore go-round of the hit series will arrive with 1080p transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks – no word on bonuses (or an official domestic release) quite yet. SRP is CA $84.99.
