Anchor Bay will release Five Across the Eyes on 23 September. This horror film that won “Best Independent Feature” at the 2007 Southern Appalachian International Film Festival will arrive on this DVD edition with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. Lionsgate has announced a Blu-ray Disc release of Universal Soldier for 4 November. This Dolph Lundgren/Jean-Claude Van Damme action flick will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track, but bonus features (if any) have yet to be announced. SRP is $29.98.


















We have news of Fox’s 25 November DVD release of 24: Redemption. This feature-length lead-in to the show’s anticipated seventh season will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, ten minutes of never-before-seen footage, a commentary featuring various cast and crew members, a featurette, and a look at the first sixteen minutes of the show’s seventh-season premiere (more bonuses will be included, but they are still TBD). SRP is $26.98.
















HBO will release Martin: The Complete Fifth Season on 7 October. This latest release of the award-winning Martin Lawrence/Tisha Campbell comedy will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $29.98.


         















Warner has announced plans to release You’re Not Elected, Charlie Brown on 7 October. This classic Peanuts animated special will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a mono track, a bonus Peanuts episode (He’s a Bully, Charlie Brown), and a making-of featurette. SRP is $19.98.


















18 November will bring the Sony Blu-ray Disc release of National Security. This Martin Lawrence/Steve Zahn shoot-em-up will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. We don’t have word yet on bonuses. SRP is $28.95.


















Sony has announced plans to release Revolver on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This Guy Ritchie action/drama starring Jason Statham will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by Ritchie and editor James Herbert, an alternate opening with optional Ritchie commentary, some deleted scenes, a gag reel, three featurettes, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $28.95.

















Bad news for Ray Parker, Jr. fans… Sony has officially denied the earlier reports that we’d get a Ghostbusters Blu-ray Disc release this year. We’re not sure if it was wishful thinking on fans’ parts or what. Sony hasn’t given any firm information as to whether there had been plans to release it in 2008 or not. Maybe 2009 will be the year.

















Fox will release Millennium: The Complete Series on 28 October. This Lance Henriksen X-Files spinoff will find every episode of its run on this set, though we haven’t received word from Fox as to tech specs or bonus features. That announcement should be coming shortly. SRP is $69.98.


















Sony will release The Perfect Holiday on 4 November. This Terrence Howard comedy, which also features a supporting performance from Queen Latifah will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary track (participants TBD), a making-of featurette, and some video diaries. SRP is $27.96.

















All we have is cover art, but Warner is preparing a Blu-ray Disc release of a movie you may have heard of; it’s due before the end of 2008, most likely on 9 December. Having broken twenty-nine different box office records, having earned a tad under one billion dollars worldwide, and becoming the second highest grossing film of all time after Titanic, this should prove to be the biggest Blu-ray Disc release since the format was introduced. We hope to have full details soon.
















Warner Music Group has announced plans to release War: Greatest Hits – Live to Blu-ray Disc on 14 October. This concert-film featuring the well-known band will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs are TBD and there are no bonus features. SRP is $19.99.


















7 October will bring the release of South Park: The Cult of Cartman from Paramount. This 2-DVD compilation of some of the character’s most raucous episodes will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, Dolby Surround 2.0 tracks, and some newly-animated introductions to the episodes by Cartman himself. SRP is $26.98.

















30 September will bring the Paramount release of Lewis Black’s Root of All Evil – Uncensored. This latest DVD collection of rants and raves from the popular comedian will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and Dolby Surround tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $26.98.


















Warner has announced plans to release the classic The Picture of Dorian Gray to DVD on 7 October. This Oscar-nominated adaptation of the Oscar Wilde classic starring George Sanders and Angela Lansbury will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a mono track, a commentary track (participants TBD), and a few Warner Night at the Movies goodies. SRP is $19.97.

















It seems as though the film is nothing more than a series of delays; we’ve learned that the Wellspring/Genius Products Blu-ray Disc release of Fanboys has been pushed back again. Originally slated for an 18 November release, we now have it on good authority that the film will arrive on high-def on 23 December. Specs are unchanged. SRP remains $34.99.

















We also have final specs and cover art for Universal’s 25 November Blu-ray Disc release of The Kingdom. This Jamie Foxx/Jennifer Garner wartime actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, a U-Control picture-in-picture track, a commentary by director Peter Berg, some deleted scenes, and four featurettes. SRP is $29.98.

















Here’s some bad news for fans of romantic comedy. Sony has announced that it has cancelled the Blu-ray Disc releases of Mona Lisa Smile, My Best Friend’s Wedding, and Maid in Manhattan. No reason has been offered for the cancellations, nor have there been any announcements about new release dates. Stay tuned and we’ll let you know when more info comes in.




BBC and Warner have also announced plans to release Jonathan Creek: Season Three on 20 January. This acclaimed British crime series will find its third season arriving on DVD with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Surround tracks (bonus features are TBD). SRP is $34.98.


















We have full specs for the Genius Products Blu-ray Disc release of Diary of the Dead on 21 October. This George Romero zombie-based horror flick will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by Romero, cinematographer Adam Swica, and editor Michael Doherty, seven featurettes, and a bonus featuring all the winners from the film’s MySpace interactive contest. SRP is $29.95.
















Genius Products has announced full specs for their 28 October Blu-ray Disc release of Hell Ride. This motorcycle actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by writer/director Larry Bishop and cinematographer Scott Kevan, four featurettes, and a Michael Madsen video diary. SRP is $29.95.

















18 November will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of the Bruce Willis thriller Lucky Number Slevin from Genius Products. Also starring Josh Hartnett and Ben Kingsley, the film will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, but we have no confirmation of supplements yet. SRP is $29.95.

















Sony will release Open Season 2 on Blu-ray Disc on 27 January, 2009. We don’t have full tech specs or bonus features for this direct-to-video sequel to the hit animated adventure quite yet. All we know is that it’ll get a 1.78:1 1080p transfer, but we’ll let you know as more info comes our way. SRP is $39.98.




Genius Products and The Weinstein Company have announced plans to release The Rebel on 30 September. Hitting shelves under the companies’ Dragon Dynasty line, this Vietnamese film starring Johnny Nguyen and Ngo Thanh Van will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, both Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 tracks, interviews, a commentary by Johnny Tri Nguyen, Veronica Ngo, Dustin Nguyen, and Bey Logan, some deleted scenes, a making-of featurette, some trailers, a stills gallery, and a Johnny Nguyen martial arts demo. SRP is $24.95.















The serial killer drama Kemper will be released on DVD by Lionsgate on 25 November. Starring Christopher Stapleton and Robert Sisko, the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, but we have no early word as to bonus features or audio specs. SRP is $29.95.


















Lionsgate will release Dead of Winter to DVD on 25 November. This horror flick starring Brian McNamaara and Al Santos will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a surround soundtrack (specs TBD). No bonuses will be included. SRP is $29.95.




We have cover art and confirmed specs for Universal’s 2 December release of Saturday Night Live: The Complete Fourth Season. All of the season’s twenty episodes will be included on this 7-DVD set with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. We have no word on supplements. SRP is $59.99.


















We have final specs for Paramount’s 4 November release of Shrek the Halls. Warner will release Annie Leibovitz: Life Through a Lens on 28 October. This documentary on the life and times of one of our great modern photographers will come with more than an hour of additional interview footage (tech specs are TBD). SRP is $19.98.




Genius Products and RHI Entertainment will release The Little Rascals: The Complete Collection on 28 October. This mega-collection will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks, a handful of commentary tracks (participants TBD), interviews with Little Rascals cast members, introductions to the films, three original Hal Roach Our Gang silent shorts, seven featurettes, and a 12-page collectible booklet. The Legend of Sasquatch is coming to DVD from Image Entertainment on 21 October. Time Life is preparing a 15 November DVD release of The Real Ghostbusters: The Complete Series. This mega-set featuring every episode of the popular animated series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, twenty-one picture-in-picture video commentary tracks featuring various cast and crew members, 86 episode introductions, a huge slate of interviews, stills galleries, music and effects audio tracks for a handful of episodes, series bumpers, five documentaries, some PDF DVD-ROM material, and an entire bonus disc featuring more interviews and the never-before-seen promotional pilot (with optional filmmaker commentary). SRP is $179.99.













MGM will release Pink Panther: The Ultimate Collection on 25 October. This 18-DVD set includes a new release of the original Pink Panther (with more than an hour of bonus features specific to this release), and eight more Pink Panther movies: A Shot in the Dark; Inspector Clouseau; The Pink Panther Strikes Again; Revenge of the Pink Panther; Trail of the Pink Panther; Curse of the Pink Panther; Son of the Pink Panther; and, 2006’s Pink Panther remake. There will also be nine volumes of the Pink Panther Cartoon Collection and a new book on the character written by Jerry Beck. Return of the Pink Panther is not included because of rights issues between MGM and Universal. SRP is $199.98.
