Warner and New Line have announced that the summer hit Kit Kittredge: An American Girl is headed to Blu-ray Disc on 28 October. Starring Abigail Breslin and Chris O’Donnell, the film will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a movie trailer gallery. SRP is $35.99. Storm Hawks: Showdown in the Skies is headed to DVD from Sony on 11 November. This latest release of the popular Cartoon Network series will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and stereo tracks. No bonus features will be included. SRP is $24.98. A&E has announced an 18 November release of Criss Angel: Mindfreak – Collector’s Edition. This box set of the wildly popular cable series includes the first two seasons of the show as well as a Criss Angel Halloween Special, all of which are presented in 1.33:1 and have stereo tracks. From early word, it looks like there is no bonus material unique to this Collector’s Edition. SRP is $99.95. Universal will release the Eminem drama 8 Mile on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This surprise success from director Curtis Hanson will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio track, a featurette, an uncensored “rap battle” sequence, and a music video. SRP is $29.98. I Am Legend: The Ultimate Collector’s Edition is coming to Blu-ray Disc from Warner on 9 December. This second high-def release of the blockbuster Will Smith film will arrive with a 44-page sketch book, a commemorative lenticular Lucite piece, six collectible cards, a commentary by director Francis Lawrence and screenwriter Akiva Goldsman, two featurettes, an extensive Creating I Am Legend multi-part documentary, four animated comics and the film’s trailer, two more featurettes, an extensive set of deleted scenes with optional Lawrence, Goldsman commentary. Cover art and audio specs are coming soon. SRP is $59.99. Sony will release the family drama This Christmas on Blu-ray Disc on 11 November. Starring Mekhi Phifer and Chris Brown, the film will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary track by actors Regina King, Sharon Leal and Lauren London, some deleted scenes, a featurette, and a music video. SRP is $38.96. We have a little more on New Line and Warner’s release of Mongol on Blu-ray Disc on 14 October. This unique action spectacle will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer and a digital-copy capability, but full bonuses and audio specs are still TBD. SRP is $35.99. We have final specs for Universal’s 7 October release of 30 Rock: Season Two. This newest release of the hit Tina Fey/Alec Baldwin series will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, four featurettes, some deleted scenes, and a set of commentaries by Fey and various cast and crew members. SRP is $39.98.The indie Saving God is headed to Blu-ray Disc from Echo Bridge on 28 October. This inspirational drama starring Ving Rhames will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and the disc’s bonus slate are both TBD. SRP is $29.98. Paramount has announced a 25 November release for A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift of All. This collection of excerpts from the amazingly popular and acclaimed Colbert Report series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. It is unclear whether this release will contain any bonus features. SRP is $19.98. The groundbreaking television series Soundstage has announced its first Blu-ray Disc title: Soundstage – Sheryl Crow Live, slated for release on 11 November. No specs have been announced (save the disc’s 1080p transfer). SRP is $24.95. The Police: Certifiable – Live in Buenos Aires is coming to Blu-ray Disc from Universal Music Group on 11 November. This live concert showcasing the reunited power trio will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a stills gallery, a featurette, and two audio CDs of the concert. SRP is $39.98. There are early rumblings that Fox is preparing a 14 October release for The Rocker on Blu-ray Disc. This Rainn Wilson comedy will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a DTS-HD 5.1 Lossless Master Audio track, but we don’t have any confirmed specs on the release’s bonus slate. SRP is $39.99. Warner has announced a 28 November Blu-ray Disc release of Superman: Doomsday. This animated feature starring the Man of Steel features the voice talents of Ray Wise and Anne Heche and will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary by various cast and crew members, a set of featurettes, four episodes of Superman: The Animated Series, and some trailers. SRP is $29.98.We have early word that Buena Vista is planning Blu-ray Disc releases of some of the most beloved Disney animated films of all time. All we know is that Pinnochio is slated to be released in March of 2009, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will arrive in October of 2009, Beauty and the Beast will hit shelves in the fall of 2010, and Fantasia/Fantasia 2000 will be available in spring 2010. We’ll of course let you know as more details come our way. Universal has announced plans to release Abbott & Costello: The Complete Universal Pictures Collection on 28 October. This 15-DVD set features 28 films from the comedy duo: One Night in the Tropics, Buck Privates, In the Navy, Hold That Ghost, Keep 'Em Flying, Ride 'Em Cowboy, Pardon My Sarong, Who Done It?, It Ain't Hay, Hit the Ice, In Society, Here Come the Co-Eds, The Naughty Nineties, Little Giant, The Time of Their Lives, Buck Privates Come Home, The Wistful Widow of Wagon Gap, Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein, Mexican Hayride, Abbott and Costello Meet the Killer, Boris Karloff, Abbott and Costello in the Foreign Legion, Abbott and Costello Meet the Invisible Man, Comin' Round the Mountain, Lost in Alaska, Abbott and Costello Go to Mars, Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Abbott and Costello Meet the Keystone Kops, and Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy. SRP is $38.95. Image Entertainment is readying the release of three Jeff Dunham stand-up comedy Blu-ray Discs for 18 November. Jeff Dunham’s Very Special Christmas Special, Arguing With Myself, and Spark of Insanity will arrive with additional footage and a music video (Christmas), a commentary track, bloopers, and bonus footage (Arguing). No tech specs are yet available. SRP is $29.98 for each title. 28 October will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of The Bird People in China from Artsmagic. This intriguing film from acclaimed director Takashi Miike will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but that’s all we know about this release so far. SRP is $34.95. Warner will release NBA Champions 2007-2008 on Blu-ray Disc on 4 November. This debut sports-oriented high-def title from the studio will arrive with a 1080p transfer, some interviews, and behind-the-scenes footage, but that’s all the info we have so far. SRP is $29.98. We have final specs for Anchor Bay’s release of Dead Space: Downfall on 28 October. This film based on the upcoming PS3 game will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, two cheat codes for the game, some deleted scenes, trailers, downloadable editions of the film’s score, and some of its animatics. SRP is $34.95. Buena Vista will release Wall-E on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This blockbuster Pixar hit will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a commentary by director Andrew Stanton, some deleted scenes, a set of featurettes, some animated shorts, and some BD-exclusive material: a Geek Track viewing option, Cine-Explore with Stantion, a picture-in-picture enhancement of Burn-E, and set of retro-style videogames with “a twist.” SRP is $39.98. We have early word that Genius Products and The Weinstein Company will release Planet Terror and Death Proof (a.k.a. – a truncated Grindhouse) to Blu-ray Disc on 16 December. No audio specs have been formally announced, but each film will get a 1080p transfer and will come with all the bonus features that were found on each film’s DVD release (interviews, deleted scenes, featurettes, etc.). SRP for each title is $34.95. Eagle Rock will release Jethro Tull: Live at Montreux 2003 on 30 September. This concert showcasing the Grammy-winning group will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but won’t contain any bonus features (audio specs are TBD). SRP is $24.95. DreamWorks will release Old School on Blu-ray Disc on 16 December. This hit comedy starring Will Ferrell will arrive with the same bonuses that were on film’s HD DVD release (commentary, bloopers, featurettes, deleted scenes, trailers). Expect a 1080p transfer, but audio specs are TBD. SRP is $29.98. Shriek Show (an arm of indie house Media Blasters) will release the bloody Flesh for the Beast on 25 November. Starring Sergio Jones and Jane Scarlett, this ghost-hunting thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but we don’t have any word yet on audio specs or bonuses. SRP is $24.95. Shriek Show is also readying a Blu-ray Disc release of Shadow: Dead Riot for 25 November. This serial killer/women’s prison gore-fest starring Candyman’s Tony Todd will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but that’s all we know about the release as yet. SRP is $24.95. Vivendi Universal has announced an 11 November Blu-ray Disc release of It’s Pimpin’ Pimpin’. This feature-length stand-up performance from comedian Katt Williams will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and bonus features (if any) have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $29.98. 25 November will also bring the Criterion Blu-ray Disc release of Chungking Express. This acclaimed work from director Wong Kar-Wai will arrive with a 1.66:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary by Asian cinema scholar Tony Rayns, an excerpt from the BBC series Moving Pictures about the film, and the movie’s trailer. SRP is $39.95.2 December will bring the Universal release of Saturday Night Live: The Complete Fourth Season. This latest full-season release from the eternally funny NBC series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, but bonus features haven’t yet been confirmed. SRP is $69.98. 18 November will also bring the Criterion Blu-ray Disc release of The Man Who Fell To Earth. This amazing Nicholas Roeg sci-fi film starring David Bowie will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, an uncompressed stereo track, a commentary by Roeg, Bowie, and writer Buck Henry, a set of interviews, multiple stills galleries, and some trailers. SRP is $39.95. We have received word that Sony’s release of I Dream of Jeannie: The Complete Series has been pushed back one week. Originally slated for a 4 November release, the set will now hit shelves on 11 November. No reason was given for the postponement. This set will come with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks. SRP is $174.95. Criterion will release a DVD of The Spy Who Came In From The Cold on 18 November. This spy thriller from acclaimed author John Le Carre will arrive with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a stereo track, a set of interviews, a BBC documentary on Le Carre, a stills gallery, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $39.95. Vivendi will release Speed & Angels on Blu-ray Disc on 16 September. This action/drama starring Luke Wilson will arrive with a 1080p transfer; audio specs have yet to be determined, but it doesn’t appear that any bonus features will be included. SRP is $29.98. HBO has announced a 9 December release for The Wire: The Complete Series. This critically-acclaimed series will arrive in its entirety on this 23-DVD set with 1.33:1 transfers and Dolby Surround 2.0 tracks.
