Sony has announced plans to release CJ7 on 12 August. This unique comedy from the director of Kung Fu Hustle will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Cantonese Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary with various cast and crew members, five featurettes, character profiles and a set-top game. SRP is $28.96.



Warner will release Rest Stop: Dead Ahead on Blu-ray Disc on 7 October. This slasher flick will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a set of deleted scenes (including three alternate endings) and the film’s trailer. SRP is $28.99.

















Warner has also announced plans to release Rest Stop: Don’t Look Back on 7 October. This sequel to the successful horror film will hit Blu-ray Disc with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track. No bonuses have been announced for this release – stay tuned for more info. Lionsgate will release a special edition of Delicatessen on 26 August. This amazing film from Jeunet/Caro will arrive on DVD with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a French stereo track, a commentary with co-director Jean-Pierre Jeunet, three featurettes a stills gallery and some trailers. SRP is $19.98.

















The Ellen Page/Catherine Keener drama An American Crime will be released by First Look Studios on 19 August. The film will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a set of trailers for other First Look titles. SRP is $24.98.


















Warner will release L.A. Confidential on Blu-ray Disc on 23 September. This Oscar-winning drama starring Russell Crowe and Kim Basinger will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a commentary with film critic Andrew Sarris, a music-only track, some trailers and TV spots, more than twenty(!) featurettes, and the pilot for the TV show of the same name (audio specs are TBD). SRP is $28.99.



Universal has announced plans to release End of Days on Blu-ray Disc on 26 August. The Arnold Schwarzenegger actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track and a commentary track with director Peter Hyams. SRP is $29.98.



Nothing has been revealed as far as specs or bonuses are concerned, but Buena Vista will indeed be releasing both volumes of Kill Bill on Blu-ray Disc on 9 September. These look to be the R-rated versions of the films and not the unrated versions we’ve been promised for years now. We’ll keep you updated on specs as they roll in. SRP for each title is $34.99.



Sony has announced plans to release Felon on 12 August. This Stephen Dorff thriller that also stars Sam Shepard and Val Kilmer will arrive on DVD with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track and a making-of featurette. SRP is $24.96.



Universal will unveil its Blu-ray Disc edition of Michael Mann’s Miami Vice on 26 August. This hit Colin Farrell/Jamie Foxx adaptation of Mann’s own hit television series will come with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, a Mann commentary, four featurettes, a stills gallery, some cast/crew bios and a picture-in-picture BD-exclusive feature. SRP is $29.98.



Lionsgate will release The Doors on Blu-ray Disc on 12 August. This classic Oliver Stone rock epic starring Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track, a commentary with Oliver Stone, some deleted scenes and a pair of featurettes. SRP is $29.99.
















Warner will release the straight-to-video Another Cinderella Story on Blu-ray Disc on 16 September. This hit family film starring Drew Seeley and Selena Gomez will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, five featurettes, a music video for “Just That Girl” and a sing-along bonus feature. SRP is $38.95.



MGM will release Deal on 19 August. This dramatic thriller starring Burt Reynolds and Shannon Elizabeth will hit DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a Winning Big at Texas Hold ‘Em featurette. SRP is $27.98.


















Lionsgate has announced a 9 September Blu-ray Disc release of the Jackie Chan/Jet Li martial arts epic The Forbidden Kingdom. This blockbuster film will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix, a commentary from director Rob Minkoff and screenwriter John Fusco, some deleted scenes (with optional commentary), five featurettes, a pre-visualization feature (with optional Minkoff commentary), and a gag reel. SRP is $39.95.















We have early word that Universal will be releasing Forgetting Sarah Marshall on Blu-ray Disc on 30 September. This hit Jason Segal comedy will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer – we know that much for sure – but audio specs and a full bonus slate are TBD. We’ll keep you updated. Full specs have been announced for Sony’s release of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder on Blu-ray Disc. Starring Casper van Dien (his return to the franchise), the film will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, two commentary tracks (with various members of the film’s cast and crew), two featurettes, a music video for “It’s a Good Day to Die,” and a BD-exclusive picture-in-picture feature. BD Live features are also enabled on this release. SRP is $38.96.















A&E Home Video will release their inaugural Blu-ray Disc title, The Universe: Season One on 14 October. This three-disc edition of the popular series will arrive with 1.78:1 1080i transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a documentary entitled Beyond the Big Bang. SRP is $79.98.

















The Lionsgate horror thriller Skinned Alive is headed to DVD on 26 August. This gore-fest starring Melissa Bacelar and Jeanette Bonner will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $26.98.


















First Look Entertainment will release The Code on Blu-ray Disc on 14 October. Starring Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas, the thriller will get a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and a full bonus slate have not yet been made available. Stay tuned for more info. SRP is $34.95.



Fox will release Young @ Heart on 16 September. This crowd-pleasing documentary about 24 senior citizens rehearsing for a very unique vocal performance will arrive on DVD with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, seven featurettes, deleted scenes, and some music videos. SRP is $27.98.

















30 September will also bring the Universal Blu-ray Disc debut of The 40-Year-Old Virgin. This hit comedy starring The Office actor Steve Carrell will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, but that’s as much as we know about this high-def release at the moment. SRP is $39.98.


















16 September will bring the Criterion/Eclipse release of Aki Kaurismaki’s Proletariat Trilogy. This trio of films from the popular Finnish filmmaker – Ariel, The Match Factory Girl, and Shadows in Paradise – will arrive on DVD with 1.33:1 transfers and Finnish mono tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $44.95.

















19 August will bring the Fox Blu-ray Disc release of Street Kings. Starring Keanu Reeves and Forrest Whitaker, the film will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Lossless Audio 5.1 track, and a set of bonus features that have yet to be determined. We’ll keep you updated. SRP is $39.98.



Final box art and specs have been announced for the Paramount Blu-ray Disc release of Transformers for 2 September. The film will arrive with a 1080p transfer, both Dolby TrueHD 5.1 and PCM 5.1 tracks, a commentary with director Michael Bay, ten featurettes, trailers, some BD Live featurettes, a script-to-screen comparison, and a stills gallery. SRP is $39.99.
















The submarine thriller U-571 is headed to Blu-ray Disc from Universal on 26 August. Starring Matthew McConaughey, Bill Paxton and Harvey Keitel, this disc will contain a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, a picture-in-picture feature, and a commentary with director Jonathan Mostow. SRP is $29.98.



Warner will release Robot Chicken: Season Three on 7 October. No tech specs or bonus features have been announced for this latest installment of the successful Seth Myers animated series on DVD, but stay tuned and we’ll let you know as more info comes in. SRP is $29.98.


















30 September will bring the Universal Blu-ray Disc release of the Seth Rogen comedy Knocked Up. From 40-Year-Old Virgin director Judd Apatow, the film will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer. Stay tuned for more details on the release’s audio specs and bonus features. SRP is $39.98.


















Arts Alliance America will release The Best of Charles in Charge on 26 August. This single-disc collection of nine episodes of the Scott Baio hit will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $7.95.
 
















On 21 October, MGM and Fox will release six James Bond films on Blu-ray Disc. This first wave of Bond flicks will include Dr. No, Die Another Day, Live and Let Die, For Your Eyes Only, From Russia With Love and Thunderball. No word yet on tech specs or particular bonus features, but we’ll keep you updated. SRPs for these titles are TBD.



We also have final box art and tech specs for Sony’s 19 August release of Prom Night on Blu-ray Disc. This slasher flick will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary with cast and crew members, some deleted scenes (with optional commentary), five featurettes, a BD Live interactive poll (Where’s the Best Place to Hide a Body?), and a BD-exclusive picture-in-picture storyboard track. SRP is $38.96.















We’re getting initial word that Shout Factory is releasing Mystery Science Theater 3000: 20th Anniversary Edition on 28 October. No specs have yet been announced; we don’t even have final word as to which four episodes will be included. But as diehard MST3K fans, we can promise to keep you updated. SRP is $69.99.



16 September will bring the Criterion release of The Earrings of Madame de…. This classic French film from master director Max Ophuls will arrive on DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer, a mono track, a commentary track with film scholars Susan White and Gaylyn Sudlar, a set of interviews with Ophuls collaborators Alain Jessua, Mar Frederix and Annette Wademant, and two featurettes. SRP is $39.95.
















A second Max Ophuls release – La ronde – will be released on 16 September by Criterion. This elegant dramatic masterwork will arrive on DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer, a French mono track, a commentary track with scholar Susan White, three interviews and a set of selected correspondences between Laurence Olivier and Heinrich Schnitzler (the son of the playwright on whose work the film is based). SRP is $39.95.
















The third Ophuls Criterion release from Criterion on 16 September is the gem Le plaisir. This lovely picture starring Jean Gabin and Simone Simon will come to DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer, a French mono track, an introduction to the film from Todd Haynes, English and German versions of the film’s opening narration, a video essay by scholar Jean-Pierre Berthome about the film, and a set of interviews with cast and crew members. SRP is $39.95.
















16 September also brings the Criterion release of An Autumn Afternoon. This final film from filmmaker extraordinaire Yasujiro Ozu will arrive on DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer, a Japanese mono track, a commentary from film scholar David Bordwell, a featurette, and the film’s original trailer. SRP is $29.95.
