We have heard early rumors that Warner is readying Blu-ray Disc releases of two beloved ‘80s classics: Gremlins and The Goonies. No exact details have been announced, but from what we’ve gleamed, we invite you to expect these discs in Q1 of 2009. We’ll let you know as more info comes our way. 28 October will bring the HBO release of Michigan vs. Ohio State: The Rivalry. This look at the legendary Big Ten fight for glory will come with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer and a stereo track. No bonuses will be included. SRP is $19.98. Fox will release Bones: Season Three – Totally Decomposed Edition on 18 November. This third installment of the notable series starring David Boreanaz and Emily Deschanel will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, four extended episodes, some featurettes, and a gag reel. SRP is $59.98. The Films of Budd Boetticher is headed to DVD from Sony on 4 November. This collection of five films from the noted western director – The Tall T, Decision at Sundown, Ride Lonesome, Buchanan Rides Alone, and Comanche Station – will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks, commentary tracks on each film (participants TBD), introductions, and the documentary Budd Boetticher: A Man Can Do That. SRP is $59.95. Sony will release Blue Streak on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This Martin Lawrence actioner will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, two featurettes, and a set of music videos. SRP is $28.95. 18 November will bring the release of Southland Tales on Blu-ray Disc from Sony. This much-aligned yet somehow curious film from Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by Kelly, an animated short, a stills gallery, and a making-of featurette. SRP is $28.95. MirrorMask is coming to Blu-ray Disc on 18 November from Sony. This Jason Barry-starring fantasy film from Neil Gaiman and The Henson Company will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, though we don’t have confirmed details on the release’s bonus features. We’ll let you know more as details roll in. SRP is $28.95. 4 November will bring the Blu-ray Disc release of Henry Poole is Here from Anchor Bay. This indie drama starring Luke Wilson will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but that’s the only confirmed detail we have so far. Stay tuned. SRP is $39.99.Image Entertainment will release k.d. lang: Live in London on 3 February. Since this release date is still a ways off, we have no word about tech specs or bonus features (if any). SRP is $24.98. This one is also super-early, but we wanted to let you know that Paramount has announced a 6 January release date for Duckman: Seasons Three and Four. We haven’t heard anything about bonus material yet, but we know that (like the release of Seasons One and Two hitting shelves next week) the set will come with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. SRP is $49.98. Paramount has announced plans to release Mannix: The Second Season on 6 January. This sophomore release of the popular Mike Connors series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono tracks, but no bonus material will be included. SRP is $39.98. Paramount will release Star Trek: Season Three Remastered on 18 November. We don’t have complete details about bonus features, but we know the set will come with 1.33:1 transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks (as with sets past). SRP is $84.98. Universal will release Waterworld: Extended Edition on 4 November. This director’s cut of the maligned Kevin Costner blockbuster will arrive with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a slate of bonuses that have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $19.98. We have confirmed that The Weinstein Company and Genius Products will release Diary of the Dead on Blu-ray Disc on 21 October. This zombie flick from George Romero will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and bonus features are still TBD. SRP is $19.99. We have final specs for Sony’s Blu-ray Disc release of Zombie Strippers, scheduled for 28 October. The Jenna Jameson vehicle will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by director Jay Lee, Jameson, Robert Englund, and Joey Medina, deleted scenes with optional commentary, two featurettes, and a BD-exclusive Titillation and Sass pop-up trivia track. SRP is $38.96. Sony will release Linewatch to DVD on 21 October. This Cuba Gooding, Jr. actioner will arrive with a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a making-of featurette. SRP is $24.96. We have final specs for Warner’s 25 November Blu-ray Disc release of Superman: Doomsday. This animated feature-length film featuring the Man of Steel will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, three featurettes, a Requiem and Rebirth documentary, a commentary from producer Bruce Timm, writer Duane Capizzi, voice director Andrea Romano, and executive producer Gergory Noveck, some teasers, and four episodes of Superman: The Animated Series. SRP is $29.99. Buena Vista has announced final specs for its release of Schoolhouse Rock!: The Election Collection on 23 September. This limited edition compilation of some of the acclaimed animated series’ most notable moments will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a new-to-DVD song titles “Presidential Minute.” SRP is $19.99. TLC and Genius Products will release LA Ink: Season One, Volume 2 on 21 October. This newest DVD of the hit tattoo-oriented series will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and Dolby Surround tracks. No bonus features will be included. SRP is $24.95. First Look will release The Neighbor on 23 September. This unique neighborhood comedy starring Matthew Modine and Michele Laroque will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a set of trailers. SRP is $24.98. 7 October will bring the Warner release of Watership Down. This family classic based on Richard Adam’s best-selling novel will arrive with a new transfer and a stereo track, although bonus materials (if any) have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $19.97. Rounder Records will release on DVD A Hundred Miles or More: Live From the Tracking Room on 11 November. We don’t have any tech specs or bonuses for this collection of songs from acclaimed singer Alison Krauss’ new solo record, but we’ll let you know when more details come our way. SRP is also TBD. We have final specs and cover art for the Universal Blu-ray Disc release of Jarhead, slated to hit shelves on 25 November. This Sam Mendes-directed war flick will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 track, and two commentaries, one with Mendes and the other with screenwriter William Broyles, Jr. and writer Anthony Swofford. SRP is $29.98. BBC and Warner have announced plans to release Lovejoy: The Complete Season Four on 13 January. This popular British series starring Deadwood baddie Ian McShane will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers, stereo tracks, and an interview with the actor. SRP is $69.98. We have word from Warner that their Blu-ray Disc release of The Shawshank Redemption has been pushed back from 4 November to 2 December. We still don’t have confirmed details on specs or bonus materials, but we know that the release will come in a Digi-book packaging (a la One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest). SRP is $34.99. Full specs have been made available for the Blu-ray Disc release of Rob Zombie’s Halloween, slated to hit shelves from Genius Products on 21 October. This reinvention of the marvelously popular slasher franchise will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary by Zombie, deleted scenes with optional Zombie commentary, a gag reel, four featurettes, actor Scout Taylor-Compton’s screen test, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $34.95. We have early word of an 18 November Blu-ray Disc release of Awake from Genius Products. This Hayden Christensen/Jessica Alba thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound, although we have no confirmed word on bonuses. SRP is $29.95. Anchor Bay will release Heathers on Blu-ray Disc on 18 November. This legendary Winona Ryder teenage comedy will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 track, and a slate of bonuses that are as yet TBD. SRP is $29.98. We have early word that Universal is planning a 16 December Blu-ray Disc release of its monstrously popular summer blockbuster Mamma Mia. This Meryl Streep/Pierce Brosnan musical – that stands as Universal’s top-moneymaker of the year so far – will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and bonuses are TBD. SRP is $39.98. Paramount will release a new edition of Madagascar on 4 November. There’s no word concerning whether this Holiday Edition will include a new transfer, a new mix, or any bonuses that haven’t been included on editions past, but we’ll let you know as more info becomes available. Starring Lou Diamond Phillips and Jason Priestley, the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, and a making-of featurette.
