The thriller Deception is coming to DVD from Fox on 23 September. Finally, the cinematic world can exhale – Fox will release Dude, Where’s My Car? on Blu-ray on 26 August. This bonehead comedy starring Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 sound mix, and a set of bonus features that are TBD. SRP is $39.98.



Genius Products and The Weinstein Company will release The Promotion on 2 September. Starring Seann William Scott and John C. Reilly, the film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix, and a set of extras that are TBD. SRP is $29.95.

















Universal has announced early plans to release Mongol on Blu-ray on 9 September. This tale of war, grandeur and, well, more war will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a PCM 5.1 lossless sound mix – we know this for sure – but bonus specs have yet to be announced. SRP is TBD.



Final specs have been announced for the 14 October Fox release of The Unit: Season Three. This Dennis Haysber/Robert Patrick series’ third season will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mixes, as well as a handful of commentary tracks with various cast and crew members, a featurette, and a set of deleted scenes. SRP is $39.98.
















16 September will bring the Blu-ray release of Made of Honor from Sony. This Patrick Dempsey romantic comedy will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound mix, and a slate of bonus features that have yet to be confirmed. SRP is $38.95.



21 October will (appropriately) bring the Blu-ray debut of Rob Zombie’s Halloween from Genius Products. This revamping of the popular horror franchise will arrive with all the bonuses afforded the film’s DVD release – a Zombie commentary, deleted scenes (with optional director commentary), a gag reel and five featurettes – as well as upgraded tech specs that have yet to be determined. SRP is $34.95.



Sony has announced a 16 September Blu-ray release of the Al Pacino thriller 88 Minutes. Also featuring performances from Alicia Witt and Leelee Sobieski, the film will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound mix, a commentary with director Jon Avnet, some deleted scenes and two featurettes. SRP is $38.96.














MGM will release Pathology on 23 September. This zany horror flick starring Milo Ventimiglia and Alyssa Milano will hit DVD with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix, a commentary with director Marc Schoelemann and writers Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, a featurette, a Legion of Doom music video, and some deleted scenes. SRP is $27.98.
















Starz will release The Visitor on Blu-ray on 7 October. This recent arthouse smash will come with a 1080p transfer, but there have been no official announcements as far as audio specs and bonus features go. SRP is $39.98.



We have full specs for the 9 September Blu-ray release of Tarsem’s The Fall. This scenic trip-out of a movie will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound mix, a Tarsem commentary, a second commentary with writers Nico Soultanakis and Dan Gilroy, some deleted scenes, two featurettes and a BD-exclusive stills gallery. SRP is $38.96.



Bad news for Burt Reynolds fans – turns out Arts Alliance has cancelled their July release of B.L. Stryker: The Complete Second Season. No reason was given for the change in schedule, but in their press release, the company does state that their release of B.L. Strker: The Complete Box Set is set for a September unveiling. We’ll let you know when specs for that release are announced.















We have word that Warner is preparing a Star Wars: Clone Wars DVD release for 18 November. There are also heavy rumors that a Blu-ray release will also be made available day-and-date, but we can’t confirm that yet. We’ll let you know as more details come in.



We don’t have word as to whether it will be accompanied by a Blu-ray release, but we have it on good authority that Paramount will soon officially announce a 14 October DVD release for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. No word on bonuses, tech specs or anything else, but keep checking in for more info.

No tech specs or bonus material have been officially announced, but we can tell you that 23 September will bring the Blu-ray release of Sex & the City. This release of the wildly popular film based on the TV series you may have heard of will carry an SRP of $39.98, but that’s all we know right now. Stay tuned.

















We have final specs for Fox’s 30 September release of My Name is Earl: Season Three. This latest installment of the hit Jason Lee NBC sitcom will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mixes, multiple deleted scenes, a blooper reel, a making-of featurette, as well as Under the Shell: The Mr. Turtle Commentary. SRP is $49.98.
















It’s too early to offer complete tech specs and bonus features, but we have learned about a few Paramount Blu-ray releases coming soon. Anchorman and Old School will hit shelves on 23 September, and December will bring the BD releases of Stardust and Into the Wild. We’ll pass on complete info as we get it.



Universal has announced a 7 October 2-DVD release of Alfred Hitchcock’s classic thriller Psycho. This new edition of the Anthony Perkins/Janet Leigh masterwork will include a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a mono sound mix, a commentary with Hitchcock scholar Stephen Rebello, some newsreel footage, a treasure trove of stills galleries, two documentaries, some excerpts from Hitchcock’s interviews with Francois Truffaut, and an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. SRP is $26.98.














CMT has made a deal with Sam’s Club and Wal-Mart to be the exclusive retailers of the rock special Elvis: Viva Las Vegas on Blu-ray starting on 12 August. This all-star tribute to the king featuring Joe Perry, Celine Dion and Faith Hill – among others – will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but that’s all we have as of now in terms of tech/bonus specs. We’ll keep you updated as new material comes in. SRP is $18.99.



Final specs have also come in for Sony’s 26 August Blu-ray release of David Mamet’s Redbelt. Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor, Emily Mortimer, and Tim Allen, the film will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080 transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound mix, a commentary with Mamet and Randy Couture, three making-of featurettes, two sets of interviews and a few Fighter Profiles. SRP is $38.96.



The indie hit Duck is coming to DVD from Westlake Entertainment. Starring Philip Baker Hall and French Stewart, this drama will arrive with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix, a commentary with director Nic Bettauer and Hall, a stills gallery, some cast bios, the film’s trailer and a set of interviews. SRP is $14.95.
















Anchor Bay is readying a 26 August DVD release of Phantasm IV: Oblivion. This latest installment of the cult-adored horror franchise will arrive with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer – this we know for sure – but audio specs and bonus features (if any) have yet to be confirmed by the studio. SRP is $14.98.
















Universal is also readying a new edition of Hitchcock’s Vertigo for release on 7 October. The Jimmy Stewart/Kim Novak classic will arrive with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, both Dolby Digital 5.1 and mono sound mixes, two commentaries – one by producer Herbert Coleman, restoration experts Robert A. Harris and James C. Katz (among others); and another by director William Friedkin – the foreign ‘censorship ending’ of the film, extensive stills galleries, trailers, two documentaries, excerpts from Hitchcock’s interviews with Francis Truffaut and an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. SRP is $26.98.













Genius Products and The Weinstein Company are preparing a 26 August release of Where in the World is Osama Bin Laden?. This documentary from Super Size Me director Morgan Spurlock will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound mix, an alternate ending, and six featurettes. SRP is $24.95.
















Attention X-Files fans: We have it on good authority that Fox will release both X-Files: Fight the Future and X-Files: I Want to Believe on Blu-ray before year’s end. This is a super-early announcement – we have nothing in the way of tech specs or potential goodies for either title – but don’t be surprised if the truth is out there around Thanksgiving-time.

 














Speaking of final specs, we have confirmed what the Universal Blu-ray release of Leatherheads will contain. Slated for release on 23 September, the George Clooney old-time football picture will arrive with a 1080 tansfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 sound mix, three featurettes, a look at some of the film’s visual effects sequences, and a BD-exclusive visual commentary with Clooney and producer Grant Heslov. SRP is $39.98.
















 

14 October will bring the Blu-ray releases of Romancing the Stone and The Jewel of the Nile from Fox. These Michael Douglas/Kathleen Turner hits will arrive with 1080p transfers and DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio mixes, and a slate of bonus features that are TBD. SRP for each title is $39.95.



Universal is also readying a 7 October new edition of the James Stewart/Grace Kelly must-see Rear Window. The new release will feature a 1.66:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a mono sound mix, a commentary with Hitchcock scholar John Fawell, some stills galleries, trailers, a documentary, three featurettes, excerpts from Hitchcock’s interviews with Francois Truffaut and an Alfred Hitchcock Presents episode. SRP is $26.98.















7 October will bring a new Universal release of the Orson Welles classic Touch of Evil. Starring Charlton Heston and Welles, the DVD will come with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a mono sound mix, two featurettes, the film’s trailer, and no fewer than four commentaries, one by Heston, Janet Leigh, and restoration producer Rick Shmidlin, another just by Shmidlin, one by filmmaker F.X. Feeny, and one more by Welles experts Jonathan Rosenbaum and James Naremore. SRP is $26.98.














Fox will release Daredevil: The Director’s Cut on Blu-ray on 30 September. This surprisingly popular comic book actioner starring Ben Affleck will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 sound mix, and a collection of bonus features that have yet to be determined. We’ll keep you updated. SRP is $39.95.














The Peanuts: Deluxe Holiday Collection is headed to DVD from Warner on 23 September. Containing A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving, A Charlie Brown Christmas, and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown, these family-friendly classics will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono sound mixes, as well as a bonus CD of holiday songs from the shows. SRP is $44.76.
















Warner is preparing a 4 November Blu-ray release of A Christmas Story. This holiday classic will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a commentary by Peter Billingsley and director Bob Clark, two featurettes, two set-top games, the film’s trailer, a documentary, and some original recordings from writer Jean Shepard. SRP is $49.99.














Shout! Factory is readying a 28 October release of Mystery Science Theater 3000: The 20th Anniversary Edition. This collection of four episodes of the series – presented in 1.33:1 transfers and containing stereo sound mixes – will arrive in collectible packaging along with a slate of bonus features that have yet to be confirmed.
