This very popular sports flick starring Sean Astin will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound track. This single-disc collection of fourteen songs from the classic kids show will arrive on DVD with 1.33:1 transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 sound tracks, and an interactive Election Tracking Kit. SRP is $19.99. Paramount has announced a 30 September release of My Three Sons: Season One, Volume One. This inaugural DVD release of the popular classic sitcom will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and mono sound tracks (no bonuses will be included. SRP is $39.98. We have final specs for the Paramount Blu-ray release of Shrek the Third, slated for release on 16 September. This latest installment of the money-minting Mike Myers animated franchise will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound track, and all the bonuses found in the film’s HD DVD release last year: seven featurettes, a music video, some deleted scenes, high-def-exclusive material like a picture-in-picture storyboards, a trivia track, and one more featurettes (all bonuses are presented in HD). This Kirk Douglas adventure film will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a 7.1 DTS-HD sound track, a commentary by Victor J. Kemper, a pair of featurettes, some TV spots, and a few trailers. SRP is $34.95. August is coming to DVD from First Look Home Entertainment on 26 August. This drama starring Josh Hartnett and David Bowie will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound track, and a set of trailers. SRP is $28.98. SRP is TBD. We have final specs for Sony’s Blu-ray release of the guilty-pleasure Jean Claude Van Damme actioner Maximum Risk, set for release on 12 August. Warner will release The Adventures of Robin Hood on Blu-ray on 26 August. This heavily influential classic adventure film starring Errol Flynn will arrive with a 1.37:1 1080p transfer, a mono sound track, a commentary by cinema scholar Rudy Behlmer, a Warner Night at the Movies collection with a newsreel and shorts, six featurettes, some outtakes, four classic shorts, a music-only audio track, an excerpt from The Robin Hood Radio Show, some piano sessions with Erich Wolfgang Korngold, and a set of trailers. SRP is $28.99. We don’t have a firm release date, but we have it on good authority that HBO will release Band of Brothers on Blu-ray this fall. All the bonuses from the set’s DVD release will be available here, and there are also a few BD-exclusive goodies: a picture-in-picture commentary by surviving members of Easy Company, and an extensive interactive field guide. We also know that the show will arrive with 1080p transfers, although we’re not sure about audio specs. SRP is TBD. The Weinstein Company and Genius Products will release Steel Trap on 15 July. This grisly horror film that takes place in an abandoned skyscraper will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 sound track, a commentary by director Luis Camara, some deleted scenes (with optional director commentary), a making-of featurette, and a stills gallery. SRP is $19.97. 28 October will bring the DVD release of The Flintstones: The Complete Series from Warner. This 24-DVD collection featuring all six seasons of the animated show will have 1.33:1 transfers, mono sound tracks, and what’s being referred to as “loads of extras for Flintstones fanatics” (no specs on bonuses have yet been announced, though we do know there will be four-and-a-half hours’ worth of them). This long-in-development title – it was originally slated for release in early ‘08 – will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 sound track. We don’t yet know anything about the extras. National Geographic and Warner will release Atmospheres: Earth, Air and Water on Blu-ray on 21 October. The romantic comedy Purple Violets is headed to DVD from Genius Products and The Weinstein Company on 26 August. Paramount will release Transformers: Animated – Season One on 19 August. This Hasbro-produced series will find its debut season arriving on DVD with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo sound tracks.
