8 July will bring the DVD release of Death on Demand from MTI. This grisly suspense/horror flick starring Jerry Broome and Krista Grotte will arrive with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a director’s commentary, and a set of trailers. Universal will release the 81-minute pilot for the 2008 remake-series Knight Rider on 9 September. Starring Justin Bruening and Sydney Tamiia Poitier, the pilot will hit DVD with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary track with producer David Bartis, Bruening, and actress Deanna Russo, as well as three featurettes and some trailers. SRP is $14.98.



We have some more details on the 26 August Blu-ray Disc release of Prison Break: Season Three from Fox. No word on bonuses, but the high-def debut of this third season of the hit Wentworth Miller series will sport 1.78:1 1080p transfers and DTS-HD Master 5.1 tracks. We’ll let you know when the release’s bonus slate has officially been announced. SRP is $79.98.

















MGM is readying a 2 September special edition release of Bright Lights, Big City. This Michael J. Fox/Kiefer Sutherland late-‘80s hit will come to DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, two commentaries (one with writer Jay McInerney; another with D.P. Gordon Willis), a pair of featurettes, and a stills gallery. SRP is $14.98.


















Disney will release Tinker Bell on Blu-ray Disc on 28 October. This full-length CG animated film featuring the classic Disney character will hit with a 1.78:1 1080p transfer, a PCM 5.1 track, two featurettes, a set-top game, a set of deleted scenes (with introductions by the filmmakers), and some BD-Live features. SRP is $34.99.

















MVD Entertainment has announced plans to release Punk’s Not Dead on 8 July. This documentary on the punk movement’s different eras and incarnations will arrive on DVD with a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, as well as bonus interviews, featurettes, and deleted scenes. SRP is $16.95.


















We have more specs on the Blu-ray Disc release of I Know What You Did Last Summer from Sony. On 22 July, the Jennifer Love Hewitt slasher pic will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary with director Jim Gillespie and editor Steve Mirkovich, a making-of featurette, a Kula Shaker music video, and the film’s trailer (the disc will also come with BD-Live access). SRP is $28.95.
















The horror thriller Rest Stop Don’t Look Back is headed to DVD from Warner on 7 October. This creep-fest starring Richard Tillman and Graham Norris will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a commentary with producer John Shiban and director Shawn Papazian, some deleted scenes, and a making-of featurette. SRP is $24.98.



Universal has announced a 19 August release of The Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior. This sequel to the hit Mummy spin-off stars Randy Couture and Karen David and will arrive on DVD with a 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a set of deleted scenes, six featurettes, and a blooper reel. SRP is $29.98.



Universal will release Heroes: Season Two on 26 August. This sophomore effort of the hugely successful NBC series will hit DVD with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, eleven commentary tracks with cast and crew members, four featurettes, a stills gallery, deleted scenes, and some trailers. SRP is $39.98.


















5 August will bring the release of The First Olympics: Athens 1896 from Sony. This miniseries about the birth of the modern Olympics that stars Angela Lansbury and David Caruso will hit DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer, a stereo track, as well as a set of previews for other Sony TV-on-DVD titles. SRP is $19.94.



Sony will release the Alicia Witt thriller Urban Legend on Blu-ray Disc on 22 July. This slash-‘em-up horror flick will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a director’s commentary track, and a featurette. SRP is $28.95.


















23 September will bring the Fox DVD release of Boston Legal: Season Four. This latest release of the hit legal drama starring William Shatner, Candice Bergen, and James Spader will arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers and Dolby Digital Surround tracks (no bonuses have yet been announced). SRP is $59.98.


















Straight off the rumor mill – we have it on good authority that Universal is readying a 16 September release of 30 Rock: Season Two. This wildly popular Tina Fey/Tracy Morgan/Alec Baldwin NBC series will find its sophomore season hit DVD with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a slate of bonuses that have yet to be determined. Stay tuned for more.



The Weinstein Company and Genius Products will release Extreme Movie on 2 September. This spoof starring Michael Cera and Matthew Lillard will hit DVD with a 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary track with directors Andrew Jacobson and Adam Jay Epstein, and a making-of featurette. SRP is $19.97.



The documentary Pete Seeger: The Power of Song is headed to DVD on 5 August from The Weinstein Company and Genius Products. This authorized filmed biography of the historic folk singer will have an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, three deleted scenes, five Seeger family short films, and some DVD-ROM features. SRP is $24.95.


















Full specs have been released for Paramount’s 29 July Blu-ray Disc release of Beowulf: The Director’s Cut. This CGI animated film from Robert Zemeckis will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a sixteen-part documentary entitled The Making of Beowulf, an In the Volume picture-in-picture commentary track, some deleted scenes, and a set of trailers. SRP is $39.95.

















Prom Night is headed to DVD from Sony on 19 August. This recent hit thriller starring Brittany Snow and Johnathan Schaech will arrive with a 2.40:1 anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary track with Snow, Schaech, and director Nelson McCormick, some deleted scenes (with optional commentary), four featurettes, and a blooper reel. SRP is $29.96.

















Image Entertainment will release When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions on Blu-ray Disc on 30 September. This new documentary series featuring some newly-unearthed footage from some of the USA’s most exceptional space voyages will arrive with a set of 1.78:1 1080p transfers and DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 tracks. No word yet on bonuses. We’ll let you know when we know more. SRP is $69.98.
















The horror thriller Insanitorium is coming to DVD on 15 July from Sony. This creepy-crawly mind-warp of a picture with Peter Stormare and Jesse Metcalfe will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, two featurettes, and a slate of deleted scenes. SRP is $24.96.



Full specs for the 22 July Blu-ray Disc release of The Exorcism of Emily Rose have been released. The Laura Linney thriller will arrive with a 2.35:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary track with director Scott Derrickson, a set of deleted scenes, and three featurettes (the disc will also be BD-Live enabled). SRP is $28.96.

















The Weinstein Company and Genius Products have announced a 29 July release of Tai Chi Master. This martial arts actioner starring Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a commentary with Hong Kong Cinema expert Bey Logan, five featurettes, and a set of trailers. SRP is $24.95.



Paramount will release Beauty and the Beast: The Complete Series on 30 September. This comprehensive collection of the hit Linda Hamilton series will contain all 44 hours of the show on 16 DVDs with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks. There’s no word yet on whether we’ll get any bonuses that weren’t already attached to season-by-season releases. SRP is TBD.



This one’s straight off the rumor mill. It is looking like Paramount will be releasing The Godfather Trilogy on Blu-ray Disc this September. We have no word as to specs or bonuses, but this is the kind of high-def release news we simply couldn’t keep to ourselves. Stay tuned for release developments as they come in.



We have final specs for the 5 August Blu-ray Disc release of Lonesome Dove. This unbelievably entertaining classic miniseries from 1989 starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones will arrive with a new 1.78:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, four featurettes, a stills gallery, and a commentary track from director Simon Wincer (over the entire six-hour miniseries). SRP is $39.92.
















Buena Vista and Miramax will release Smart People on Blu-ray Disc on 12 August. This ensemble comedy starring Dennis Quaid, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Ellen Page will arrive with a 2.40:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary track with various cast and crew members, a featurette, some deleted scenes, and a blooper reel. SRP is $34.99.



Sony will release The Counterfeiters on Blu-ray Disc on 5 August. This Austrian Oscar-winner for last year’s Best Foreign Film will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, an Austrian Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and a collection of bonus features that have yet to be determined. SRP is $38.95.



We have early word that Fox will release Night Watch and Day Watch on Blu-ray Disc on 9 September. It’s too early to report specs or bonus slates, but we wanted to let you know to keep a lookout for these; we’ll give you more info as it comes in. Each will carry an SRP of $39.98.



Paramount will release Everybody Hates Chris: The Third Season on 26 August. This hit comedy series will find its junior-year season hitting DVD with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, a handful of commentary tracks (participants TBD), some featurettes, deleted scenes, and a blooper reel. SRP is $39.98.


















MVD Visual is releasing Bill Monroe: Father of Bluegrass Music on 8 July. This look at the legendary “Muleskinner Blues” singer will arrive on DVD with a 1.33:1 transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track. SRP is $19.95.



















Disney has announced a 26 August Blu-ray Disc release for The Nightmare Before Christmas. This fan-beloved animated film featuring some of Tim Burton’s most progressive work will arrive with a 1.66:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 track, a commentary track with Burton, director Henry Selick, and composer Danny Elfman, five featurettes, some deleted scenes, a storyboard-to-film comparison, Burton’s short film Vincent, a set of trailers, and a Blu-ray Disc exclusive introduction to the film by Burton. SRP is $39.99.



First Look Entertainment will release Miss Conception on 5 August. This romantic comedy starring Heather Graham and Mia Kirshner will arrive on DVD with an anamorphic widescreen transfer and a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, as well as a slate of bonus features that have yet to be finalized. We’ll keep you updated. SRP is $24.98.


















The international hit The Band’s Visit is headed to DVD on 29 July from Sony. Starring Ronit Elkabetz and Sasson Gabai, this award-winning crowd-pleaser will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, and a Hebrew Dolby Digital 5.1 track. It doesn’t look like any bonus features will be included. SRP is $28.96.


















2 September will bring the Buena Vista release of Eli Stone: The Complete First Season. This hit new ABC series starring Jonny Lee Miller will hit DVD with 1.78:1 anamorphic transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, a commentary track (participants TBD), four featurettes, some deleted scenes, and a gag reel. It also looks like we’ll have a special extended version of the show’s pilot included on this set. SRP is $39.99.

















The George Clooney/John Krasinski comedy Leatherheads will be released on Blu-ray Disc on 26 August. We don’t have any tech specs to report, nor do we know anything about the Blu-ray Disc release’s bonus slate, but stay tuned and we’ll let you know as soon as we know. SRP is $34.95.
