Pinocchio: 70th Anniversary Platinum Edition will be released by Buena Vista on March 10, 2009 as high definition BD and standard definition DVD 2-Disc editions. The 2-Disc Blu-ray release includes a bonus standard definition DVD allowing viewers to enjoy Pinocchio even before they upgrade to Blu-ray Disc. The DVD supplements include text trivia, an audio commentary by Leonard Maltin, Eric Goldberg and J. B. Kaufman, Disney Song Selection sing along, No Strings Attached: The Making of Pinocchio, Deleted Scenes, The Story of the Grandfather Tree, In The Belly Of The Whale, Alternate Ending, The Sweat Box, Live Action Reference Footage, Pinocchio Art Galleries, Deleted Songs, and Pinocchio Puzzles. The Blu-ray Disc will feature BD Live web-based extras, all the supplements found on the DVD, plus the Pinocchio Knows Trivia Challenge. The video will be in the 1.33:1 aspect ratio. The DVD will offer a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, while the BD will have an as yet to be defined 7.1 channel track. The DVD SRP will be $29.99 and the BD SRP will be $35.99. 









28 October will bring the Paramount release of Carlos Mencia: Performance Enhanced. This collection of live performances from the popular comedian will arrive with full frame transfers and stereo tracks. No bonus features will be included. SRP is $19.99.



















We have early word of a 6 January DVD release of Battlestar Galactica: Season 4.0 from Universal. This hit science fiction series will find its fourth go-round arrive with 1.78:1 anamorphic widescreen transfers, Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and a bonus slate that as yet has not been confirmed. Warner has announced a 9 December Blu-ray release for Dumb and Dumber. This bonehead comedy starring Jim Carrey will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a featurette, a ton of deleted scenes, some trailers, and a handful of TV spots. SRP is $28.99.


















More details have been announced for Paramount’s 30 December Blu-ray release of Ghost. This iconic romance starring Patrick Swayze and Demi Moore will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a commentary track by director Jerry Zucker and screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin, five featurettes, a stills gallery, and the film’s trailer. The Nick Broomfiled film Battle for Haditha is headed to DVD from Image Entertainment on 30 December. This gritty war film will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 track, a Broomfield commentary (and another with actor Elliott Ruiz), and a slate of featurettes. We have early word of a January release of The Taking of Power by Louis XIV from Criterion (exact release date TBD). This epic film from director Roberto Rossellini will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a French mono track, and four featurettes. SRP is $29.95.


















Fox will release a Blu-ray edition of Unfaithful on 13 January. This Oscar-nominated Diane Lane drama will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 track, and a slate of bonus features that have yet to be determined. SRP is $34.99.


















Douglas Sirk’s amazing Magnificent Obsession is coming to DVD from Criterion in January (date TBD). This Jane Wyman melodrama masterpiece will arrive with a 1.33:1 transfer, a mono track, a commentary by film scholar Thomas Doherty, the full edition of director John M. Stahl’s earlier version of the film, a documentary on Sirk, some interviews, and the film’s trailer. SRP is $39.99.

Gregory Nava’s El Norte is coming to Blu-ray this January from Criterion (exact date TBD). This acclaimed drama will arrive with a 1.78:1 1080p transfer, a mono track, a commentary by Nava, a making-of documentary, a featurette, a 1972 Nava short film, a stills gallery. and the film’s theatrical trailer. 3 February will bring the Warner Blu-ray release of Being There. This legendary comedy with Peter Sellers and Shirley MacLaine will arrive with a 1080p transfer and a new batch of bonus features, but specifics on those and on the disc’s audio track are TBD. SRP is $34.95.

















13 January will bring the Fox Blu-ray release of Boondock Saints. This mob actioner from director Troy Duffy will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Lossless Master Audio track, and a slate of bonuses that have yet to be confirmed (though it looks as though they will be identical to those on the film’s special edition DVD release). Criterion’s Eclipse Series 14: Rossellini’s History Films – Renaissance and Enlightenment is coming to DVD in January (date TBD). This trilogy of films from the master director – The Age of the Medici, Blaise Pascal, and Cartesius – will arrive with 1.33:1 transfer and Italian mono tracks. No bonuses will be included. Warner will release a special edition of Brainstorm on 3 February. This Christopher Walken thriller will arrive with an anamorphic widescreen transfer, but audio specs and the disc’s bonus slate are still TBD. SRP is $19.97.




















Full specs have been announced for Lionsgate’s 11 November release of Little House on the Prairie: The Complete Television Series. This fan-beloved show will be released on a 60-DVD set featuring 3 DVDs of bonus material, including copious interviews, commentaries, and featurettes. SRP is $279.98.













Universal will release The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor on Blu-ray on 16 December. This recent blockbuster starring Brendan Fraser and Maria Bello will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 Lossless Master Audio track, and a copious collection of extras (specs have not yet been revealed). This direct-to-video sequel to the Milla Jovovich hit wil arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a picture-in-picture BD-exclusive bonus, a trivia track, two featurettes, some trailers, some bloopers, and a set of character profiles. 20 January will bring the Blu-ray release of Antwone Fisher from Fox. This Denzel Washington-directed drama starring Derek Luke will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD Lossless 5.1 track, and a slate of bonuses that have yet to be determined (but it’s likely they will mirror those on the film’s 2003 special edition DVD release). Warner has announced a 3 February DVD release of Night Court: The Complete Second Season. This sophomore release of the hit sitcom will arrive with 1.33:1 transfers and stereo tracks, but it doesn’t look like the set will contain any bonus features. SRP is $29.98.
