Paramount is planning two huge 2-disc releases of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, one on Blu-ray Disc and the other on DVD, day and date on October 14th. Disc one of the DVD edition will have: an anamorphic video transfer; audio tracks in English, French, and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1; English, French and Spanish subtitles; and featurettes titled The Return of a Legend and Pre-Production. Disc two the DVD edition will contain: an extensive Production Diary; six featurettes covering several aspects of the production, Warrior Makeup, The Crystal Skulls, Iconic Props, The Effects of Indy, Adventures in Post Production, and Closing: Team Indy; three Pre-Visualization Sequences, Area 51 Escape, Jungle Chase, Ants Attack; and extensive Stills Galleries, The Art Department, Stan Winston Studio, Production Photographs, Portraits, and Behind-the-Scenes Photographs. The SRP will be $39.99, but if you don’t want the second supplement disc, a single disc edition will have an SRP of $29.99. The Blu-ray Disc presentation will feature a 1080p transfer with an English Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks, and English SDH, French, Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese subtitles. The first disc in this 2-BD set will offer all the supplements of disc one of the DVD set, but all in HD, plus some exclusive BD features: three Indiana Jones Timelines, Story, Production, and Historical. The second disc will also duplicate the DVD’s extras, but in HD. The SRP will be $39.99. Warner will release Body Heat on Blu-ray on 7 October. This sexy thriller starring Kathleen Turner and William Hurt will arrive with a 1.85:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, some deleted scenes, four featurettes and a set of interviews. SRP is $28.99. Funimatino will release Dragon Ball Z: Tree of Might/Lord of Slug on Blu-ray on 16 September. Available on one Blu-ray disc, this latest installment of the internationally renowned anime series will arrive with 1080p transfers and DTS-HD 5.1 tracks, as well as a set of bonuses that are as yet TBD. SRP is $34.95. Sony has released further specs for their Blu-ray edition of You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, slated for release on 7 October. This latest Adam Sandler comedy will be presented with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, and will include a huge selection of featurettes, some deleted scenes, bloopers, a commentary by director Dennis Dugan, and a BD-exclusive Translating the Zohan picture-in-picture track. SRP is $38.96. 14 October will bring the Warner Blu-ray release of Poltergeist. This iconic creepy thriller will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 track, a documentary on the film, and perhaps some other bonuses that are as yet TBD. Vivendi Visual will release Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed on Blu-ray on 21 October. This classic film’s Blu-ray release will mirror its HD DVD incarnation: a 1.37:1 1080p transfer, a Dolby Digital mono track, two commentary tracks, a ton of featurettes, some stills galleries, deleted scenes, outtakes, Warner shorts, excerpts from the film’s scoring sessions, and some trailers. Warner will release Interview with the Vampire on Blu-ray on 7 October. This hit dramatic thriller starring Tom Cruise will arrive with a 1080p transfer, but audio specs and bonus features are TBD. This Liv Tyler horror flick will arrive with a 1080p transfer, a DTS-HD 5.1 track, a set of deleted scenes, a featurette, and a BD-exclusive My Scenes Sharing feature. Fox has revealed more specs for their 7 October Blu-ray release of Young Frankenstein. SRP is $39.98. We don’t have full specs yet, but we’ve learned that WalMart has announced an exclusive Blu-ray release of Shrek the Halls from Dreamworks starting 31 October. This made-for-TV special from 2007 will no doubt receive a 1080p transfer, but audio specs, bonuses, and an SRP are all TBD. On the same day as William Conrad’s other show, Jake and the Fatman, gets a TV-on-DVD release (2 December), Paramount will release Cannon: Season 1, Volume 2.
